Without doubt the finest English still chard I’ve ever had. Really full, long finish, wonderful colour. Bit of corkiness blew off from first night on the second. Think these benefit from time in bottle. Bravo.

This showed really well in a blind tasting of English table wines, rated the best by four of five imbibers, I had it a close second to the Kit's Coty 2013. Pale lemon with a green tinge, the nose is fresh with lemon, lime, grapefruit, herbs, nettles and minerals. The wine has medium light body which is soft on entry and then the citrus lime, green apple, green leaf, spice, grapefruit and herbaceous flavours. Mineral, long, complex quality wine.

Got the love the Gusbourne team and the boundaries they are pushing and the quality they are striving for. This Chardonnay sees 10 months in old oak but this use is very subtle. The acidity and twang reminds me more of a good Chablis. As always with a lot of good Chardonnay don't get this too cold as the slightly warmer fridge temperature will allow the wine to show more of its concentration and breadth. We shocked our English friends who grew up with French Chardonnays. When we said how do you like this Chardonnay from Kent, the fella born in that region of England who fancies himself the King of Kent, was shocked. Patriotism washed over his face and palate as he sipped most of the bottle ;-). He would have sworn a Chablis of fairly high stature. We agreed. Just a darn good, great #QPR wine that keeps 'em guessing!!!

When we said how do you like tis Chardonnay from Kent, his jaw hit the floor. He would have sworn a Chablis of fairly high stature. We agree. Crisp vivid lemon and lime citrus with apparent vanilla, butter and nutty toast. Tangy green apples with a nice touch of vanilla, creamy butter. Lemon lime finish a bit short. Without question, our favourite English Chardonnay. Those in the group, who had previously tasted the 2013, were putting this as number 2. At the moment, we would agree the 2013 is sipping better primarily with the toned down acidity and tanginess. Having said that, the 2014 is coming around! Let's …

We received our allocation of 60 bottles for the 2014 with a bitter sweet note. First, it was several weeks, if not months late. All sorts of excuses. Not good. Second, we were not impressed with the new packaging, including the use of a cork as opposed to screw-cap, as we can see prices edging up for no quality reason in the future.
