Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

Still really youthful. Lemony with a chalky back end. Nothing too complex, but refreshing and showed a lot better depth at cellar temperature and with a few hours of air. Became more impressed with the $30 paid the longer it was open, as the chalk seemed to penetrate the entire wine instead of just on the finish and some grapefruit and citrus pith emerged.

Fine Chablis but somewhat muted on the nose and not especially lively on the palate.

This was better closer to room temperature. I love the briney nose. I don't believe this sees any oak, but there was a little vanilla and marshmallow note that I didn't prefer in the mouth. Not bad overall, though.

Still going strong. Very good Chablis, in a truly excellent Chablis vintage. I think these were $15, should have bought waaaaaaaaaayyyy more.

slate golden color. Nose lightly creamy, some wax, some passionfruit. Palate light citrus pith/lightly oxidized note, fruity and mineral, great jewel-like precision and depth. Really enjoyable

Double blind tasting. Brief note. Pnp. Pours a medium straw yellow in the glass. Nose and palate are dominated by soft yellow orchard fruits, tangy citrus, and steely/clean stoney minerals. Midpalate is bright with racy acids and a mouthwatering salinity that adds to the intrigue. Finish has some giddy-up with prominent tangy acid that keeps the citrus fruits persistently long.

Fleshy for a '14, but with a beam of lemony citrus acidity to carry it all that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Mineral is in the background right now, but I could see this developing well if one wants to wait. Should have bought more than six of these...

From memory - nice Chablis. Yellow toned fruit with a hint of grapefruit rind and vanillin to round it out. Light and airy, with good mineral tones. Leans a touch to the lusher side, seemingly sacrificing some precision and tension along the way. Good

Vineyard Brands Burgundy Tasting at State Line (State Line, Elkton MD) : Light on the entry, the wine seems to grow as it moves through the palate and into the aftertaste. The phrase "lashing of acidity" fits well with this one. Needs some time to tame that beast, at least a couple of years.
