A little bit of medicine to it. To the nose, and that follows through on the palate. Maybe its just me but maybe a touch flawed? This bottle, my palate, or something else?

PnP. Cherries, red plums, orange zest, leather, earth, mushrooms. Good, straightforward Chianti Rufina. Nice pairing with a pasta wit ceci, arugula, and parmesan.

Pop and pour. Opened after a corked Napa Cabernet. Wanted a nice wine to pair with escarole soup and some rigatoni in a meat sauce. Garney color. Nose offers red fruits, some soy and cedar notes. Quite enjoyable intro with bright fruits and fresh acidity. Touch of herbs (mint, basil?) on the back end. An easy going and enjoyable wine.

Decanted. Now 30 min after decant. Nice melange of aromas of black cherries and bright strawberries, savory herbs, a touch of earth and minerals. Palate w savory herbs, bark, a touch of earth, minerals, ripe black cherries and some blackberries. Medium body with nice acids, light to medium tannins. Nice sanctuary finish of herbs, bark, and minerals. Much better than last bottle and maybe that was an off bottle. Back to it's usual delicious and complex self. Savory with enough …

Decanted. Now 1h after decant. Initially dominated by brett-like aromas but that seems to have blown off. Now dark and red cherries, earth, bark and herbs. Palate w dark cherries with a streak of red cherries, a bit of ripe blackberries, herbs, bark and some damp earth. Nice acids on medium+ body with medium+ tannins. Short, clipped finish of damp earth, medicinal bitter bark, herbs and maybe some fruit. Not as expressive as I've usually had of his wine. It's …

PnP that improved, if slightly, with each successive glass. Good soil, red fruit, loam and forest notes predominate. Medium-bodied, avg+ acidity, with good freshness and focus. A consistently good entry-level CC. Now and the next several years. Easily recommended+ https://www.ItalianWine.blog

Medium ruby red in color. Fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, plums & strawberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes with dried herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of cedar. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, plums & strawberries with dried herbs, minerals/earthy & a slight hint of oak. Lingering finish. Quite accessible & drinks well at present with decanting & airing but …

Good hearty quaffer! Gave this two round trips through an aerating decanter, result was an open, nicely rounded wine. Good flavors, no flaws, decent price:performer that's ready to enjoy - especially while watching the Giro d'Italia.

I purchased a mixed case at the winery in 2017 and this is the last bottle of the Chianti Rùfina 'normale' that I bought. As often the last bottle is the best. Right now the wine is in that perfect spot between vibrant youthful fruit and earthy, savory tertiary aromas. The tannins has melted into a smoother texture, the acidity is still bright and sappy and the aromas is more complex and intriguing. Worked just as well with our Saltimbocca …

Popped and poured; no formal notes. Cherries, bergamot, clay with medium structure and medium finish. A charming, more than serviceable Chianti paired with a delicious impromptu Monday night dinner at Via Farina in Omaha.

One of the best values in basic Chianti. A reliable pic with takeout pizza when nothing else jumped out from the ABC Liquors shelve in Indian Shores Fl on our first night. Regardless of everything else I love here I really appreciate that it shows none of that bitter finish I associate with several other Chianti. I love its lighter weight yet excellent concentration, purity and fidelity to its terroir. An excellent value for $18.

The very first vintage I had of this was 2004 and it was a spectacular QPR... I've been chasing that vintage every year since, and it just never comes close... this included. This bottle has been open for an hour now. The aromas are a bit medicinal, and somehow feel surprisingly manufactured, like artificially flavored cherry sauce with a bit of liqueur added. Perhaps a bit of tree bark as well. Palate is medium to light bodied, soft, with a …

Are reviewers of this wine using the CT scale? One has given this an 'avoid' number, which doesn't sit with the words they use and another has given this an extraordinary 95 points, which is 'Outstanding'. Both are way off the mark. The truth is that this is a very pleasing Chianti Rufina that hits the right varietal notes of red fruits, a hint of strawberry perfume, combined with some cedar and smokey/earthy/tea leaf characters. The tannins are not assertive, …

Darker than expected and took some time to reveal itself.. initially a little reticent but after a couple of hours this warmed to its task. It’s a solid wine that needs a few years in bottle when I suspect it will offer more.

£49/btl at the Potting Shed. With steaks. PnP. Hot day, heavily air-conditioned restaurant, and I think this was served a touch too warm and it would have been better slightly chilled. Notwithstanding which we really enjoyed this, cheerful and accessible, lovely bright cherry fruit, good acidity without being rasping, solid performer.

Massively sulfury and stinky on PnP. I left to LA the next day, checked in four days later, and it was perfect. Light, red cherry fruit, great balance. This wine always needs at least a day of air, but this vintage has been the worst on PnP.

Sometimes we find a favorite, reliable go-to label in the early stages of our wine education and end up going steady until our tastes begin to change and then we drop it because it's not as cool as the new drinks in town. Selvapiana Rufina (and its steamy older sister the Riserva Bucerchiale) was one of the first wines I encountered in my drinking career that had a savage side. They weren't expensive, they always made me happy in a …

Great chianti for the price. From a higher elevation, so tannins are better integrated already. Very fruity, medium weight, great acidity. Could easily be cellared for a decade. Excellent with homemade pasta sauce and roasted spring vegetables.

Black cherry, underbrush, PEPPER, a nice load of acidity gives this impressive length. A bit tannic; a year or two likely to help. A bit rustic, in a positive, Vino-Nobile kind of way.

Youthful nose with accents of sandalwood and cherries, pinned by more sophisticated aromas of pine needle and Spanish coffee. Immediately dry, yet also full of bright fruit and oak. The fruit and oak give clear indication that this needs more time to integrate. Good acidity and tannic backbone, and the hints of cinnamon-rum spice and pine show signs of this being an excellent Chianti.

Drank over 4 hours. Aromas of some dirty cherries, some pomegranate, and volcanic ash. Palate entry is a little angular and volatile, showing flavors of spice, acid, minerals and just bits of the cherry tones. Finish isn't all that balanced, showing more volatility, puckering acid and mild tannins. Overall this lacks the fruit of the best vintages, but retains the acidity. All in all not all that together.
