Classic Chenin nose - baked yellow apple, honeycomb, quince marmalade, and a touch of wool. Feels like warm apple pie straight out of the oven. Palate leans rich and rounded, missing a bit of that electric acidity you’d expect from top-tier Loire Chenin. But it’s still dangerously drinkable. The kind of bottle you open after dinner, forget about what’s around you, and let yourself dissolve into the night.

Sweeter than Kabinett. Almost spatlese sweetness. Medium plus intensity. Full body. The sweetness has a little bit of bitterness too. Honey crust apple, peach, cough syrup. Feels like one should drink it on its own.

Par rapports aux millésimes précédents c’est un peu dilué et manque d’acidité. Dommage, car aromatiquement on sent le potentiel. À voir dans 5-6 ans si c’est toujours le cas, mais je ne prévois pas une grande garde pour ce millésime.

From a small capped bottle as part of a zoom tasting. Wooly and waxy nose. Intense. Honey and minerals. Great potency and richness and also verve. A bit spicy. Palate is deep. Not as sweet as the nose might imply - wooly with pollen and wax and honey and honeysuckle. Saline minerals come out towards the end and the finish is tart honey saline and wooly. Very good. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais …

Medium gold color. Drank a couple glasses over 90 minutes. There really has a lot going on here. Peach and notes of orange peel on the nose with crushed stone, fresh cut herbs and honey infused wool. The palate is very tart, in a good way; peach, lime oil, lychee, orange, wet wool, stone, and unripe pear. with green herbs laced through. Good length, very racy, and it really comes off dry now. 91+ to 92pts.

PNP into Zalto white wine glass (“Flower” day): Pale golden to the eyes. Superbly elegant on the palate. Nobly off dry sweet and indefinitely drinkable. 94-95 points.

Oof. Rather disappointing considering how great the 2017 was. In addition to having all the signatures of the 2018 solar year, showing overly ripe, lacking precision and cut, but it also is way sweeter than the 2017. Tastes more like a Moelleux than a Demi-sec. Maybe some bottle variation (the cork also slid out suspiciously easily), but this is the first time I’ve had a Pinon that hasn’t been a delight. Drank a glass and the rest went down the …

The sweetest Pinon that I have tried yet.(Enjoyed is a better word.) Honeyed, floral, medium weight body with good minerality and enough acidity on the finish to keep it nimble.

A very distinct rendition of off-dry Chenin. A savory, herbal nose greets you before yielding up some more characteristic honeyed notes. Much more typical on the palate, with quince fruit, honey and high acidity. Pretty foursquare sec-tendre.

Opened with Thai food (green curry chicken, eggplant pork). Jean really dislikes the nose on it, which is a pretty subtle nose of honey. On the palate, honey and quince with zippy acidity. Almost totally dry. Lovely.

Deep yellow for such a young wine. More of that wooly Savennières scent than Vouvray fruit as well as some herbs. Medium weight, certainly not a round or generous Chenin. Some orange zest on a strong soil base, maybe just off dry, very fine acidity, real sense of stone to close. Interesting terroir-driven Vouvray.

The 2014 Silex Noir currently seems a lot less giving than the 2014 Déronnières.

Purchased off the list at Pizzaiolo in Oakland. Sweet attack on the entry with yellow fruit and honey lemon. Ends with a crisp, dry finish. Good.

Light gold color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. This was quite bold immediately, lime and white peach, but the lime and some grapefruit was more prominent, lots of mineral, becomes pungently floral along with that wet wool character. The palate is laser like with tart lime and citrus fruits, the weight comes with a little glass time,, oils, wooly, a little dank, wet stone. This would have been great with out salad course. Will revisit day two and …

The nose displayed an attractive mix of ripe peach and pear contrasted by intense crushed stone minerality and savory herbal tones. On the palate, I found rich yet vibrant textures, followed by an explosion of ripe citrus and floral tones. It finished on caking minerality with remnants of ripe stone fruit. I would love to lose a few of these in my cellar, wow.

Easter Wines with Family (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Light-medium gold color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over two hours. This was bursting with bright fruit on the nose upfront, citrus, white peach, pear, wet stones, a touch of orange, and as it evolves the beeswax and pungent floral aromatics come out to play - in big and good way. The palate dances, great acidity, mineral dense, plenty of tangy citrus, white fruits, beeswax, a bit oily texture, clean finish. …

Bright gold, nose a melange of chalky minerals and sweet yellow fruit with the faintest tinge of hay. There's something creamy going on, which I didn't quite expect, but adds intrigue. Lush and oh so attractive on the palate, with so much ripe yellow fruit it pushes the limit between dry and off-dry, while it skates lazy figure eights of chalk dust on the back of the palate. Paired with a squash soup during Thanksgiving. Scores like Megatron over feckless …

For Science - Red apples and lime with a hint of tart lemon and brioche. This has a brassy/ wooly mouthfeel and high acidity. There is a nice flinty note on the backside that was more pronounced on day two. Some mulling spices and showing some residual sweetness in the finish; very long on the palate while still being linear and upright. Good to Very Good - Hold 3 - 5 years

great wine, could keep this for a very long time, but it is compelling now. Very mineral and citrus, then honey, floral scents very chenin - builds with time. A beautiful and substantial wine.

Denser, more concentrated and reticent than the 2014 Trois Argiles. The wine needed at least a couple of hours in the decanter before it began to open up.
