Drinking very well right now. Worried it would have peaked but I think I caught it at the right time. This is a testament to Greg Harrington skills and knowledge, and love for old world Rhône wines. Nobody thought this was new world. So well done. Glad I have more. Will drink remaining bottles over the next five years.

Drinking REALLY well right now. Dark fruit, smoked meat, tar, olive tapenade, spice, pepper, violets and licorice. Beautifully balanced, savory, and seductive. This is a gorgeous Syrah from Gramercy. No need to drink 'em up, it has the bones to last another decade.

What more can anyone ask of WA Syrah? The funk is there, but it’s not too present. The fruit remains plus as the wine ages, but it’s still clearly light enough to retain character and energy. Absolutely love it.

Another gorgeous Syrah from Gramery. The '14 Lagniappe is rich and mouthfilling. Red fruit with smoke, spicees, and flowers galore. There is characteristic olive tapenade, more spice and a hint of WA funk. There's a lot going on but it is still relatively light on its feet. The finish lasts a solid minute with flower-tinged minerality. Very nice.

I would agree with other reviewers that this is certainly in a great spot. A tiny bit of rim variation led me to believe this was in its early peak. Took about 30-45 mins in the decanter to get to its zenith. Great plummy fruit notes waft, with earthy smoke, black fruit, dried beef, and pepper. Really balanced wine with a great finish too.

Smelled of big plummy fruit, sweet purple flowers and sawdust. Tasted of black fruit, strong black coffee and milk chocolate with hints of licorice and garden soil. Fuller side of Medium body, good acid and a nice backbone of ripe tannin. Really very good wine, drinking about as well as it ever will.

The slightly smoky nose features boysenberry, raspberry, salty plum, sea spray, and fresh leather. Full bodied, the acid is juicy and the smooth tannins are sweet. The structure is quite pleasurable and although it’s broad and indulgent, it’s retains shape. Flavors include swwet cherry, blackberry, black plum, maple, cardamom, and muddled sage. Very nicely balanced WA syrah in its prime, perhaps lacking just a little in complexity, it was nevertheless enjoyably delicious. This cool year syrah's tannins are fully resolved and ultra-smooth, and the judicious oak usage leaves no vanilla accents that might otherwise mar such a wine. Medium ruby Nose is lots of red and black currants, currant leaf, menthol and eucalyptus. Black pepper comes in with a few minutes of air. Palate is blackberries, dark cherries, blood, cola and vanilla. Acid is medium minus and tannins ate medium and fine. A cooler climate Syrah lacks some complexity but makes up for it in elegance and beauty of execution.

Initially, my comment was this isn’t a style of Syrah I seek out. Not that it isn’t delicious (because it is), but normally from WA/OR, I want some funk. 2012 Gramercy Cellars Syrah Comparison (Seattle, Washington) : Medium ruby – red cherry, rose, cedar, blackberry, plum, bacon, menthol. Medium acid, medium- tannins, 14.2% ABV, medium body, medium intensity, medium finish. Paired well with Slow-Cooker Turkey Chili (tomato based).

Good nose and color. Silky and smooth. Drinking nicely but feels like it is building toward being better in 2 to 5 years. Beautifully integrated.

The best word I can come up with for this wine is "nubile". It is gorgeous now, in a youthful sort of way, but promises so much more with a little time to mature. Blueberries, smoke, tar, herbs, violets and pepper. Has some meat on the bones but promises to fill out in another 2-3 years, at which point it should be voluptuous. A stunner in the making.

This just keeps getting better. Amazing wine. Dark berries (blackberry, boysenberry, lingonberry), with earthy mushroom, a little bacon, a touch of black olive. This has aged so well. Drink now or hold.

Tasted blind against 2012 Jamet Cote Rotie. Medium plus garnet color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose off smoked ripe dark berries with notes of incense. The palate is full bodied, creamy in texture but with enough acidity to carry the ripe blackberry, blueberry fruits with secondary flavors of vanilla on toasted oak on a long finish laced with black pepper. Exciting syrah aromatics -- rubber, black olive, and black pepper. Excellent typicity. Sweet blueberries and blackberries on the palate. Light and drinkable with low tannins. I prefer a rougher, more tannic style.
