VIE Winery Syrah White Hawk Vineyard

Smells really smoky, like barbecued meat over the grill, on top of tons of fruit: blackberries, rich blueberries and plums. Big and bold on the palate, but solid tannin structure and some fresh acid. Blueberries, black cherries, a hint of prune. I like the mix of brandied plums and root beer with the peppered steak and charcoal. Rich, but there’s enough balance that it’s easy to drink. Really delicious and seductive stuff. I'm smitten.

Very dark red violet color; roasted black fruit, tart blackberry nose; baked black fruit, ripe black fruit, blackberry jam palate; medium finish (97% Syrah, 3% co-fermented Viognier; 14.6% alcohol; pH 3.57, TA 0.71; 20% whole cluster; 18 months in 25% new French oak)
