This merlot is now fully mature. It has Bordeaux characteristics and a hint of the cigar box complexity, but it isn't going to improve. If you are in the habit of drinking Aussie wines on their own, believing them to be a meal in a bottle, don't do that with this. It is a food wine and, as such, it is really good. If you were served this in the plaza at st emilion with your dinner, you'd be happy. …
