Giovanni Rosso Barolo

Basic hard young Barolo, mainly red fruits.

Good at the price point $40). A mouthful of powerful nebbiolo, but much coarser than barolos of this vintage higher up the $ scale.

Nice fresh fruit driven nose. Palate is very simple, not much structure but tannins are pretty fine and ripe. Finishes a bit short. Nose is the best part of this wine unfortunately. Nothing wrong with it. Similar to a top makers Langhe neb.

The bouquet was dark and earthy with notes of black cherry, and dried leaves. On the palate, I found soft textures offset by tart cherry and zesty acidity with inner floral and drying cherry tones mixed with minerals and fine tannin to present a wonderfully balanced expression. The finish was long with tart cherry and savory herbs providing a grippy, fresh and a bitter twang.

Tr�s joli nez plut�t min�ral. Bouche tendre sans beaucoup de longueur mais quel plaisir!

Not the Commune - just the regular Barolo. Raspberry, sweet cherry, black tea and tar on the nose. Very robust tannins at this young age. Will keep a few bottles of this and the Commune back to see which is better down the track.

This seemed bloated & overripe to me. Lacked much in the way of tannin or structure. Will be returning the rest. Not a patch on the Serralunga at $15 more per bottle.
