three bottles for a birthday celebration, one of which carried a hint of taint and was oddly sweet and is not rated - the other two were rich and lush and delicious! This will only get better and better

A well-made, refined wine. Nice aged Bordeaux nose, with a good balance of pencil shavings and fruit. The palate shows similarly, with a touch of acidity and a medium-long finish. I agree with others that this is fading, so I suggest drinking if you have some in your cellar.

Inky purple with a hint of garnet. Classic Bordeaux nose; dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, tobacco and cedar wood. Medium plus silky tannins and subtle acidity. The fruit was slightly muted with more tertiary than primary flavours (expected for a 20 year old sister wine). The finish was still plush and structured. But this is probably past its peak. Drink.

Pretty magnificent for a second wine. Bouquet was very floral. Took an hour to open after a decant but just delicious. Christmas lunch with the family at The Grill. And an exceptional vintage.

The wine is impeccable. Depth of aromas of dark red fruits and sweet spices, circled with tobacco and cigar box aromas, finished with tertiary aromas of walnut, dark cherry and blackberry jam and liquorice with thick but so well integrated tannins. Balance, depth, finesse. 96/100

Very slow evolution but noticing the 05s have regained power and weight. Deep ruby red with blackish core, nose of minerals, brambly raspberries and dark red fruits. Solid entry on the palate with power, very good complexity mid palate with bright and dark red berries, some milk chocolate and a decently long finish with tannins in the back and a bit of toffee. Medium to full bodied. This need a few more years.

Decanted for 2.5 hrs. Nose of sweet fruit, spices, plums and cassis. The wine is still quite young and nose still showed some alcohol and was a little light. The palate was quite fruity with sweet cassis, blackberries and oak. Finish was pretty long and lasting. The overall package was still tightly wound, lean and slightly underwhelming. Might possibly need more time.

Best bottle so far, this wine is in its early drinking window. Dark ruby red, crisp nose of raspberries, cassis, mushrooms, plums, sweet pipe tobacco, spice cake, toast. Fat entry on the palate, great acidity and balance with black and red fruits coating the palate, medium to full bodied, beginning to show complexity and pedigree, finishes decently long with sweet integrated tannins. A private tasting (Jan-Dirk Taams' residence, Groot-Ammers, Netherlands) : Much lighter nose than the Clos Dubreuil, red cherries, warmth from the oak, hint of spice; the palate displays lots of juicy and fresh fruit, bright acidity, little oak, light but well-integrated tannins; very good length. Slightly underripe perhaps? 57% Cabernet Franc, 43% Merlot.

From a blend of 57% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot, the wine pops with caramel, black cherry and mint on the nose. There is a nice sweetness to the fruit, round textures and a medium body that makes this ready for prime time drinking today.

American Heart Association - Dinner presented by Cheval Blanc (Washington DC - Mellon Auditorium) : Classic Merlot based french bordeaux. But this was velvety smooth with 7/10 tannins. It is still young but I think it is drinking beautifully now. This could be one of the nicest Merlot based Bordeauxs I have had.

Consumed @ THE VOL 94 in Pasadena. Strong initial flavor, but lacking something in the middle. Tastes the same caliber as cheaper $30 Bordeaux wines. Will never buy Petit Cheval again considering its inflated price. Actually, I will never buy a 2nd wine again.

nose - earthy, sweet tobacco (like the apple tobacco used in a waterpipe) mouth - dry, lovely, refined plum, cranberry, cherry. hints of tobacco. suave tannins. overall an elegant fruit punchy flavor is what I come away with. delicious and sleek. nothing over the top
