Such a high concentration assyrtiko. Heaps of smashed rock, grilled lemon and a herbal licorice aftertaste. Great length, and I really wished that we had more bottles in the cellar. Drinks well today but with no hurry to drink, as it should be able to handle another 5 years of cellaring without problems.

5 years since we had this last ( Papies 91-92) and this being the first bottling of this beautiful super cuvee (and probably our fav of Argyros cuvees) . This now with age has really proven us right that, assyrtiko can age effortlessly akin to top end un oaked Chablis. Flinty , soft smoky edge, mineral, bright citrus. All that but also elegant. well mannered and full of charm. Impressive as always and effortless. 93++

Had this 3 years ago and the rating hasn't changed. Muted nose, some rubber, grapefruit, smoke. Linear finish lacks complexity. Drink now. The Santa Venere Ciro Bianco 2022 at one third the price was better.

Big in every direction - flavour profile, body, texture, alcohol. A real punch to the rich lime and peach nose, heavily spiced: if I didn't know better I'd have sworn there's some oak here. Extracted with some phenolic bitterness on the palate - chewy and fat with the combination of powerful acidity and too much alcoholic heat beating you up on the finish and wondering whether you really want another sip. When its wildness and power is just about kept …

2023 Greek Adventure; 9/11/2023-9/22/2023 (Crete, Milos, Athens) : Popped and poured, no formal notes. The “Cuvee Monsignori” is made with fruits from some of the estates oldest vines; many well over 200 years old and (obviously) ungrafted. Beautifully layered tropical fruits, lime, wax, and minerals. While this was hugely complex, the biggest takeaway was the incredible texture and finish of this wine. It was rich, leesy and saline. A stunning example of Assyrtiko and perfect pairing with whole red snapper.

Syrlig, reduktiv, lukket. Intensiteten er høy og vinen har masser av potensialet, men trenger tid. Jeg vil åpne neste flaske om 5-10 år.

VERY FAINT AROMA, BUT VERY GOOD TYPICAL ASSYRTIKO OF SANTORINI TASTE!

Dine out (Almyriki restaurant) : The wine shows bright character, utterly youthful, mineral, a touch smoky, citrus, lime and lemon. In the palate, the wine shows again highly extrovert character, very high – almost painful - acidity, mineral, citrus, green apple and pear, smoky, alcohol warmth, long finish. Fascinating but needs years to settle down

That is first and it will certainly be done again... Tasted the wines at fairs before, but never in a proper settled tasting etc.. Nose of Med+ Intensity, with citrus, lemon peel, hints of hazelnut, sea smoke, slate, some herbs and some really flinty character coupled with ham fat Palate is vibrant, zesty, with a zingy acidity asking for food and sea food immediately, long, fresh, intense citrus and ripe lemon character in and aftertaste ! Med+ Alcohol, Med+ Intensity …

Brought a bottle to lunch with friends on a warm day. Matches high expectations. Pairs well with a variety of dishes including the lamb kofta. Serious wine, Good depth, though on the young side. Can keep another decade, I imagine.

High freshness, cool, clear, precise, citrus, white peach white flowers. Overall very mineral, dense, structure, medium+ body, salty, with animating acidity and good tension on the palate. Ends long. 92/100

Really good Assyrtiko, lots of mineral and sea shell components. Medium to full bodied, good amount of viscosity which may be a tad atypical. Lots of yellow bright fruit coupled with stone and really bright acidity.

Winetasting with 8 others @hennersvineyard #nativegrace 2013. Apples, brioche, yeasty and some nuttiness and truffles on the palate. Delicious . @bouchardfinlayson #chardonnay 2018 nice citrus and a little ripe peach. Lovely easy drinker . #philippeguerin #muscadet 2019 a lovely wine. Gone have the days of nondescript Muscadets. This is fresh, citrusy, it has a lovely creamy saline edge with a ting of stone fruits . @protoswines #rueda fresh grapefruit, limes with a touch of the tropics. Simple yet satisfying . …

Pre phylloxera wine from selected vineyard. Greek apple pear and citrus fruits make this this not a typical nose for Santorini. Medium body and medium acidity and not so much minerality as expected. Despite 5 years in bottle didn't show its age at all. Really fresh white.

On the nose pleasant lemony notes, a bit of ripe apple and some stony minerals. Medium bodied, dry and refreshing, delivering ripe lemon, some peach, stony mineral and a hint of tangy salinity with firm acidic structure. Overall very balanced. One delicious Assyrtiko!

Pale, straw yellow colour. The mineral nose offers yellow melon, green apple and citrus. Medium attack, and a medium-bodied mouthfeel. The palate is dominated to some extent by a strong, lime-like acidity. The acidity maintains its grip throughout the entire taste curve. The wine also offers yellow plums, gooseberries, french bread, and a hint of rosin . Excellent concentration, and long aftertaste. A high quality wine, which I believe will benefit from a few additional years in the cellar. The …

Nose is toasted bread with sated butter, lime zest, sea spray and a whiff of volcano smoke. Almost reminds me of a Bourgogne Blanc but with a slightly more exotic side. Palate is a bit more straightforward but still delicious with ripe lemon, slatey soil, cream, medium body and a long mineral finish. Pair with fatty fish or lean(-ish) pork. Very good.

I had another bottle of this wine today. So different ! The lemon acidity that I like in assyrtiko is there and the wine is razor sharp. Imperfect bottle yesterday I guesd.

See Forceberry’s great note. I cannot describe it as well but I agree with him/her. Green apple and grapefruit flavors with green grape and peach on the finish. The mouth is quite full for an assyrtiko. Excellent complexity on the finish. I don’t rate it higher because it lacks the acidity of other cuvées from this great Santorini grape.

Served blind, this wine was tight and seemed young but had little fruit. Some limestones present ending on a bitter, acidic, astringent and musty short finish. My mouth felt punished after a sip. Needs some time in bottle. I must admit that it improved in the glass over time however, for $60 CAD, I was expecting more from this highly reputed vineyard. I will definitely try again in 5 years.
