Surprising fresh fruit; nice balance with average depth; minimal tannins; modest finish.

Good, but not great. I bought this from the winery at a great discount so I'm not complaining.

Veggie nose, some nice fruit competing with the veggies but they're not winning. Still some tannins but otherwise lean and the fruit doesn't compensate. Overall quite a disappointment. Glad I had only this bottle, but hopefully the reserve that I have is much better. I was going to serve it with dinner but had to select another wine because this one didn't cut it. Probably will dump the rest out unless it comes together tomorrow, which I doubt.

Bramble fruit, baking spice, and licorice on the nose. Nice cola flavors on the mid palate with black pepper. Full bodied with chalky tannins on the finish. A little over the top, new world style syrah.

Sonoma-Napa Trip Day 2 and 3; 6/27/2009-6/28/2009 (Sonoma) : Deeply colored, dark black fruit. Touch gamey. High toned cool climate fruit. Little black olive. $36.

VG, but a little weird. Strong tomato paste on the nose that carried over into the flavor profile a little. Black fruit starts to come out at the 3 hour mark and overpower the tomato. So, I definitely recommend decanting. Regardless, I do not think this is worth the price. There are better options in the $30 range.

i just did not get this one. the nose was nice with normal syrah fruit nose, but the taste was lacking. there was not much fruit at all. it was graphite and stone and dirt. i decanted it 2.5 hrs and consumed over the next 1.5 hours. no change.

Leclaire-Gaspard, Clos St Jean VV, Lynmar, Cabot (Oakland, CA) : Traci is a member of Lynmar's wine club. We really like their Chardonnays and some of the Pinots but have yet to try the Syrah. Well a bottle landed in her club shipment so we cracked this bad boy. A little disappointed with the showing of this as well as the other 3 wines. Definitely showing the 40% new oak it was raised in...but beyond that, really nice pepper, smoke …
