initially an off taste that disapated, medium body, grainy texture and tannins, good fruit when it opened up, drank with veal chops and risotto, last bottle.

Frais et souple. Beau fruit croquant. Cerises et prunes avec un peu d'herbes. Les tannins sont serrés et la finale de longueur moyenne. Très bon.

Black liquorice on the nose. Strawberry, vanilla bean, white pepper. Velvet tannins. Balanced acitity. Delicious and complex wine, most likely at its best now!

Dark color, slight bouquet, 14% abv, full bodied, slight tannic finish, good balance and fruit, drank with NY strip steak, complex flavors, not sure if it will develop positively any more, have another bottle.

Subtle nose, dried fruits. Dark fruits on the palate. Velvet tannins with balanced acidity. Good to drink now, but will also drink well over the next few years. Delicious, but lacks complexity, perhaps overpriced.

Superb Margaux. Full bouquet right from the first sip. Deep blackberry, anise, just a hint of leather. Well made wine drinking well now and into 2025. We followed this bottle at a dinner with a Charles Krug Napa, which did nothing for my sour opinion of Cali wines these days.

Nothing distinctive about this wine except a total absence of defects. Brilliant.In.Every.Way. And all of the professional reviews give it a long life in the cellar. Wish I had more.

Dark color, nice bouquet, 14% abv, tannic, took until the end of the meal for the wine to open up, earthy, drank with T-bone steak and cauliflower, full body, tasted like it needs more time to develop, fruit was overwhelmed by grainy tannins until it opened up but it stayed lively sip by sip, will drink again.

Sweet blueberry and cacao, fir and juniper, Ceylon cinnamon, juicy cooked tomato. Solid acidity makes up some of what it lacks in tannins. Too soft and sweet at pnp but firms up and improves substantially with air, becoming stonier and losing some of that soft cacao/spice.

Cherries, black raspberries and roses with a hint of coffee bean pop in the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh, supple and focused on its array of cherries and red plums with a hint of green herbs that pops in at the end of the finish. Drink from 2025-2038.

Two+ hours decant. A muted nose, lacking that elegance and perfume one expects from Margaux. There is a hint of tobacco leaf on the nose and some sense of tobacco itself on the palate, mixed in with muted red fruits. Medium body with gentle acidity and tannins. Slightly hot finish, but that dissapated by the end of the bottle on the 2nd day.

I haven't been that fond of this wine in the past but this was very good (vintage helped I guess). Concentrated nose of Kirsch, blackberry, tobacco, backed up the the palate with a medium finish. Pleasantly surprised.

Nice dark color out of the bottle. Black plum, leather, dried orange peel, mace. The finish is a little hot. Overall drinking well and should improve slightly, 91+. The CT valuation is strangely low, I paid $27 a couple years ago and Wine Searcher is solidly $30 per bottle. Acceptable QPR at this price.

Really liked it, especially at the price point. Had it with rack of lamb and veggies at home. Smell was effusive that I really liked. Flavors showed promise but were still tannic. Day 2 will likely be better and after a few years it should be great.

By the glass. Another bottle fully ready when turns five: soft and accessible. Balanced but without much structure. Sparse length and tamed tannins. It lacks that supposed elegance and that longed-for perfume of the area. Por copas. Otra botella totalmente lista al cumplir los cinco años: suave y accesible. Equilibrada pero sin mucha estructura. Escasa longitud y taninos domados. Carece de elegancia y del añorado perfume de la zona.

From a split bottle. This is quite terrific Margaux! A really lovely nose, sweet dark fruit melange with leafs and licorice adding early complexity; powdery sugar-coated, but not over the top. In the mouth the wine is crisp, defined and gently tannic. However, there is lots of flavour and stuffing on the midpalate. Certainly good now, but better after five years.

Espresso, flowers, tobacco and ample dark red berries are all over the place. Medium-bodied, soft and with delicious red fruits on the palate the wine has lift, energy and staying power. Value hunters seeking a wine from Margaux should be all over this one.

Decanted for 2 hrs and sampled over the course of that time. Opened up dramatically, well worth the wait! Color: surprisingly vibrant crimson, given the age. Nose: subdued, get a bit of flint, red meat, cinnamon and cocoa. Very little fruit. Taste: a timebomb on the palate, witholds at first, then bursts with flavors of dates, black cherry and currant. Loads of great tobacco, black licorice and leather. Overall very delicate and well balanced. Not a heavyweight by any means. …

Getting better and better. Now very became well balanced and structured, gentle and pleasant. Still needs al least one hour decanting so perhaps the potential is there. It is already 10 years and just wonder how it will develop in 2-3 years. The vintage is great so could be still before the best moment. So no hurry. Next try in 2020

Very good for a Cru bourgeois. Nice nose of black cherries, blueberry, some earthy notes. Gains complexity in the glass, so maybe would have benefitted from more cellaring. The feel on tongue and palate is fine, though, silky, good spicy taste.

Blind Tasting: Bordeaux No. 4 (Emma's) : Appearance: Lighter and more transparent. Scarlet/crimson shade of red. Aroma: At first, restrained but opened up after half an hour. Definitely, red fruits, potpourri, lightly perfumed. Palate: gravelly, minerally, red cherry, grainy tannin. A pleasant wine. My favourite of the night. Called: 2008 Pauillac. Didn't know why but clearly my description doesn't suggest a powerful, tannic wine.

This is a tale of two impressions, and a somewhat unusual one in that I strongly preferred this wine when first poured at 55 degrees than I did as it warmed up. Within a few minutes after opening and without decanting, it was already ready for business. It showed cool graphite, coffee, cassis and cedar impressions all wrapped in credible Margaux perfume and silk. Aided by its mere 12% alcohol, I was knocking it back with abandon while chomping down …
