If you told me this was old Chateauneuf from a good house I'd be sold. Southern Rhone spice without being hot and smooth tannins expose the red fruits and violets. This is rocking now, so I'd capitalize on the opportunity in the next year or so.

Soft, friendly, mellow. The kind of wine you can spend a leisurely afternoon with. Predominately raspberry and strawberry profile, with some twig, pork fat, cola, and a touch of brett. Really nice, round mouthfeel. Nine years on it seems to have peaked, so I recommend drinking up now while it's in its gentle-but-wise stage.

Intensely perfumed nose of underbrush, roses, incense, clove, leather, olive, watermelon jolly ranchers. Raspberry on the palate. Nice body, medium finish. I like this wine. Complex but quaffable.

Hmmm, £5 in a bargain sale at a local wine shop - and it is pretty decent in a nice quaffing way. Cherries and some dark fruit on the nose - palate has resolved fruit and a soft finish. For £5 you can't really complain.
