I'm sure this bottle was on the decline when opened. Nose a bit sour at first, but more neutral later on. Fruit on the front rather muddled and a touch sour now. Tannins and structure of the wine still pleasantly intact however. Nice leather on the finish is pleasing.

A recent closeout purchase ($19.95) that was allowed to rest for a month before opening the first of six bottles. This is a nice near term drink for the dollar made in a modern style that, in my opinion, is unlikely to improve. Deep ruby color with good clarity and a small amount of light filmy sediment. This bottle had a noticeable sour tone on the nose when first decanted. I gave it a good shaking in the decanter and …

We have tried 3 bottles out of 8 that we have on hand and find a bit of sauerkraut on the nose. It is drinkable but, I am shocked that everyone else seems to like this wine.

Fruity and earthy Pinot nose. Dark, purple red. Interesting mid palate with cherry, dark fruits and earthiness, some smokiness, licorice, relatively firm structure, balanced, with some tar, mineral, but astringe, medium to long finish. Give it some time in cellar. It is better on second day. floral nose and bitterness subsides. Good PQR.

Black fruit; heavy for Pinot. A little astringent but very good: good structure and persistent.

A high degree of funky, meaty and earthy characteristics when nosing this wine. The colour is a dark red, much darker than many NZ pinots. The palate shows strong fruit flavours and an imensely long finish. A powerful wine which good indications of cellaring potential - say 5 - 7 years.

Medium intensity ruby colour. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, earthy/muddy notes, smoke and bacon. In the mouth the fruit profile leans more towards black fruits - cherry and even plum - with some peppery spice and oak. the finish is long. Very good but not my personal style.

Swig Wine Tasting (Intercontinental Hotel, London) : Dark core to this wine - meaty nose - in the mouth bitter fruit but with a sweetness coming through. Long long finish - very persistent. A more modern expression of Pinot Noir, but alluring and complex. Very young - this will be excellent in a few years.

Sweet red fruit beautifully balanced by tart acidity. Good length. Very true and honest expression on pinot.
