A bold, expressive, hedonist’s bottle, steaming ahead from the first whiff. Enticing sweetness of fully mature black berries, crème de cassis, portwine, dark chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, tobacco. Unleash Petit Verdot and this is what you get. A good pairing with my filet de boeuf, and probably even better with game. Loved it. Enjoy now.

so to all those who wished to have another case 10 years ago, you were spot on! This has muted into something that you usually do not see, a fully mature petit Verdot. The wine is very velvety, with plenty of spices, like cloves and cinnamon, and a predominant amarena cherry for the fruit. It has shed its tannin, not completely but they are elegant now and not invasive. Some wood treatment is still perceptible, with a light vanilla note …

Just a brief note. This got lost in the cellar but it has survived in good shape. Still quite youthful with dense fruit and good intensity. Enjoyable to drink now or for a couple more years.

Taken on a new complexity. Deep garnet colour. Clean nose... bright. Still holding up well ! The fruit has clearly diminished but there is still acidity that plays well with a beautifully sweet finish. Tobacco, flint, full mouth feel. Still big and juicy ! Aged so gracefully.Great for a 23yr old Aussie. Fine winemaking, great value, looking forward to my last 1998, in a few years!

Excellent, longstanding success, 14.5% alc. Colour: deep black berry, crimson edges Bouquet: raspberry jam, violets, plums, dense black and red fruits, cigar box, slightly antsy, smokey, touch of spice and vanilla oak Palate: as bouquet, full bodied and big soft tannins, but really velvety texture, black fruits and pepper, vanilla, long clean finish. Absolutely superb. September 2017

Still got the tannins to last a goodly while - fruit fading very slightly into raisin, but still some brighter cherry left...my last bottle but wish I had more - a fun Petit Verdot!

My wife used the word "loaded" to describe this wine. It's still loaded with a reasonable amount of fruit, and loaded with (mellowing) tannins. Getting just a little brown around the edges. Wish I had a case left.

Deep dark red; fragrant bouquet of dark fruit and prunes; dark fruit and pepper on the palate with strong but smooth tannins; interesting long finish, smoke and graphite. I think it would still be quite good beyond the 2014 date mentioned in other reviews.

prunes and cedar, decent tannic structure even still, with a slightly brash finish faintly hinting at seafood (crab? clam?).

Very good - but probably still too young ... but no more bottles of the 2007 vintage. If you have it wait another year and try again !

Unsophisticated fruit forward beauty. Plummy nose with big open fruit plum blackberry driven. Good sound tannin base and lovely strong persistence . Just open and drink, sheer pleasure.

A deep yet youthful colour in the glass, the nose has raisin plum fruit that is amply supported by rich vanillin oak The palate has a structure and flavor profile that lines up with the nose in terms of dried plum and dense dark berry fruits, the tannins are blocky with oak adding richness and contrast on the finish. This is a wine that has really flourished with a few years in the bottle given the general difficulty of the …

Wonderful, one of our 'down under' faves - Black, full bodied with a nose of blackfruit, plum, cherry, spice and vanilla, very well structured and balanced, complex, off dry on the palate with terrific length, awesome! (92 Points).

Mid Oct 2012: black red color; red fruits, chocolate and plenty of vanilla and wood aromas/flavors; full body; smooth texture; medium tannins. Great wine!

Day 1 - Even with a two hour decant, this bottle remained very tightly wound...86 at this point. Day 2 - Wow, came to life paired with a juicy, red steak...90 now! Unlike the 2006 Vintage, these bottles should be left in the cellar until at least 2014 to 2015.

Deep ruby core, with a strong nose of vanilla and sweet red fruit. Slightly off-dry on the attack, but otherwise dry, with medium tannins and medium acidity. Oak and ripe red fruit predominate on the palate, with a slightly leafy finish. This is exuberant, ripe and ready to drink, though the oak is a bit heavy-handed for my tastes.

Supple, massive wine that can be a bit raisiny, sirupy. Needs a good set of seasoned pork or lamb chops.

I have been holding a few of these in my cellar and I wanted to see how things were progessing. I'm not sure that I will continue to hold them until 2014, as some previous notes had suggested. The wine is very good now, but I'm not sure that it will improve. For a normally high tannin grape, the tannins here are already diiminishing. The pepper and fruit on the palate paired very well with a rare steak.

A really outstanding bottle of wine. Most wouldn't consider buying a varietal that is typically blended in small quantities with Cab...but this is really stands on its own. Great value to boot!

too drunk for a valid score, overall Excellent. There was a strong smokey dark rich tobacco/weird taste i couldn't recognize in my drunken state. Later I find this to coincided with other tasting notes to be Vanilla.

Excellent, massive rich, impressive Aussie wine - Almost black, very concentrated with notes of plum, mint, cherry and rich vanilla oak on the nose, strong tannins yet quite elegant and smooth on the palate with a long finish, well done!! (91 Points).

Opaque purple/black colour. Nice nose of crushed berry fruit - blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry - joined by minerals and hints of earth. Surprisingly refined and balanced on the palate. Full-bodied, showing replays from nose. Moderate finish, ~30-35s, with more dark fruit notes and warmth from the alcohol. Once again, a very nice Petit Verdot from this producer. Will likely improve a little with a bit of cellaring.

It's amazing to think that when I first bought this wine (some five years ago), I thought it a restrained, classic sort of wine that could conceivably be mistaken for a ripe claret. Now it has a huge minty cassis nose and palate that could only be Australian - bags of extract, glycerine, sweetness, a great whack of sweet oak. Obvious, but it really hit the spot tonight.

Quite classy, blackcurranty fruit, supported by dry pencil lead oak. Perhaps has lost a bit of zing compared with a couple of years ago. But good.
