Drank my last bottle with a grilled steak and it showed no signs of fading! Wish I had another case!!

Was sorry to hear about the demise of Spencer & Roloson as a label, but excited to find out one of the local distributors had a few bottles left in stock. Know we've got to get drinking these, but with this first bottle, no signs of being over the hill in any way. Notes of dark berries, cherry cough drop, and a bit of earthiness. Good body & mouth feel. Nothing over the top. Seriously wish they were still producing …

Still a tremendous bottle. Didn't wish to let it loiter because the drinking window is listed at going until 2008, but no evidence of fading. The signature dark berries, this time with a little black cherry showing. Will have to keep my eye out to see if anyone still has some of the Palaterra hidden away on their shelves.

Dark berries …

Given the last one I was kind of dreading this, but it's going quite well with the grilled lamb chops.

Similar to the 2003 Palaterra, with plum, blackberry & tobacco, but a the fruit was a bit sharper. Thought it interesting that the drinking window of the 2004 was shorter than listed for the 2003. Wonder why that is?

Ended up bitter after sitting out a couple of hours. Rapid decline since first bottle.
