Lioco Chardonnay Howard Family Vineyard

Been a while since I've had this wine, and wow - it is quite good! Very impressive showing, I think the years (and the superb vintage) have put it on a good path. The fruit leans more lime than lemon, almost bordering on tropical. There is some reduction and a touch of oak. but everything plays together quite well. I do wish there was a touch more length, but overall this is a lovely wine and a great value. Tasted …

Chalky minerality and bright clean aromatics of mint and unripe lemon. Tangy acidity. At Healdsburg tasting room with Molly Feeney, Toni, Gary and Nancy.

Tropical fruit, light salinity, med full body, lower acidity, hint of tropical fruit on finish. Neutral oak. Excellent.

Decanted for one hour before tasting. Nothing much there until another hour. Big tropical fruit with a little oak. I would say this is more California style than their other Chardonnays. I think this will age a little longer than most Lioco Chardonnays. Will hold for a least another two years before trying another one.

Perfect now. Better next year. This was a fantastic vintage and this wine shows us why.
