Ventisquero, Tara Pinot Noir, Atacama

Very good with ptarmigan using dairy protucts, cream or waldorf salad

First sniff sends me Down Under and cool climate Shiraz rather than PN and Atacama. Fairly meaty with blackberries, sloe, freshly cut junper wood and pine nuts. Over time it develops notes of sweet liqourice, cherries, dark chocolate turning into mocca (thai coffee sweets), floral green peppercorn and old leather. Quite a ride! Day 1 pnp, spice, fruit relegated to the background. Day 2, wow, pleasant, fruit, red berries and spice, long finish. Very enjoyable. 92-93.

Really nice perfumed medium bodied red berries with the warmth of sun warmed earth, absolutely delicious. Persistent finish and some complexity. Drink now and over the next 5 years. Blind I would have said this was Cali Pinot from Santa Barbera.

Powerful, meaty with cranberry, sour cherries, sandalwood and leather with some alcohol warmth (in a good way) despite the modest ABV. Unlike any PN I have tried and it had some nuances that reminded me of a young syrah. Started out rather austere in a voluminous Zalto Burgundy glass but after the few first sips, I poured some in a Riedel Hermitage which was a far better match where the wine settled down and felt more integrated with forest and …

Just love this wine. Would not have guessed the country of origin for this pinot noir. Bought on recommendation of a wine expert from Systembolaget in Sweden. This is a pinot noir, yes, but it is very aromatic, heavier than a typical bourgogne, feeling like drinking strawberry juice with a good heat and long aftertaste. Wonderful and my hat of to the winemaker.
