Cellartracker in the flesh with VinTomas (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point) : Ripe and plummy, touch of bacon fat, alcohol prickle. Juicy, fleshy, dark berried fruits shows plums, vanilla, silky tannins are quite dense. Opens with time and gains balance and generosity. Rather nice.

GT Wine Limestone Coast Reds (8 Danks street, Sydney) : Ooh, hello new oak - cedar, toast, sweet spice over partially baked black fruits - berries and plums and a tiny smidge of black pepper. Rich, dense, juicy, drying but quite lightly textured tannins join the wild very and plum fruit backed by plenty of oaky support. Big but fun...bit of a show wine. I had a second go at this and it was still much of a muchness.

Deep purple hue all the way to meniscus. Heavy viscous legs. On the nose focused dried dark fruits, mocha, leather, hint of mint. Bouquet not flowery rather it reminds of jammed dark cherries. Heavy bodied on the palate. Smooth chocolatey mouth coating tannins almost like having a mouthful of Nutella. 40 sec finish with espresso on back palate. This is a big wine representative of its geography. Not able to pick up minerality and lacks acidity on balance. Not particularly …
