Again with family . Apprecié par tous avec l'osso bucco. Garnet color and fleurs fannées color. Beautiful fresh nose hinting of youth but deep notes of pruneaux. Tase follows the nose and longish finish enjoyed by all. best bottle of the evening?

Heavy bricking and amber edges. Immediate nose of petroleum jelly and some old wood funk masking whatever fruits remain. Palate shows some better defined fruits, soft and elegant. Resolved and pretty strawberries. Nice mouthfeel . There's hints of mushrooms, pencil shavings and tobacco. Still a decent amount of acidity showing through and the finish remains true and long. 14 years old and time to consume, but still in great shape: Pleasant cherry fruit, slight hints of balsamic, tannins still grippy on the first day (that grittiness is diminished after being open for 5 days). Glad I opened the last bottle and looking forward to younger vintages in the cellar.

Perbacco is Vietti's name for a blend across vineyards and even appellations, and basically consists the leftovers after the best barrels from each vineyard go into the single vineyard bottlings. A beautiful wine. The nose is a bit light in intensity but with cherry fruit, talc, and baking spices. The wine has a medium color with orange edges. Body is medium(-) but acidity and tannins are both medium (+). Tannins are beautiful and well integrated with the cherry juice and white pepper flavors. Finish is long and sweet. Great wine.

Oops. Is this wine about to go over the hill? Better drink up. This was very, very slightly madeirized when first opened. Then it was ok after about 30 minutes. 4 left. Time to drink up.

PnVnD. Only open for about 15 minutes at this point. Brickish red color. Classic Nebbiolo aromas of flowers, tar, and dried berries. Some ripe plum flavors on this one that I attribute to aging, along with dried cranberries. Still good acidity and tannins. While this will probably last for a few more years, the fruit will probably continue to ripen toward eventually stewed flavors. I plan to drink the rest of mine in the next 2 years.

At $20 this is a really good value and was a perfect pairing with rabbit pappardelle. Wish I had bought more than one. Drinking well now and should continue for a few more years. Food wine.

Nice enough nose, very ripe, but then again this has been open for quite a while on a very warm day. Obviously nebbiolo but a bit over oaked with stewed fruit and a chalky undertone. At first the Perbacco's tannins were grainy but that aspect has mellowed leaving us with a nicely aged nebbiolo. A bit obvious and simple but enjoyable. The warm weather has really opened this up. Drink now and no later than the end of this summer.

After cellaring for four years, this was not the experience i was hoping for. While the nose hinted at something better, the mouthfeel was flat and flavours, dull.

This particular bottle of Perbacco shows just a hint of rust to the eye as I swirl it in the glass. Open 15 minutes now and this is hauntingly good on the nose throwing off impressions of eucalyptus, smoky mesquite, clove, anise, pepper, and well preserved dark red fruits that are showing a whisper of oxidation. Last of my 2003 bottles was consumed with rigatoni in a creamy tomato sauce (with mushrooms, chicken & sausage) & some parmesan reggiano. Double decanted for less than 1 hour. Good fruit still there on the nose but fading just a bit on the palate. This is still good but may want to drink within the next few years as 2003 was very hot and not as much acidity to hold it together.

Deep red center, red rim with some signs of age. Sweet raspberries, strawberries, menthol and eucalyptus, more meaty notes with tar and balsamic finish. Smooth entry, acidity with balsamic notes, ripe strawberries, and mature fruit on the finish, acidity and some tannin on the finish. Mature nebbiolo, drinks well now, but has some stuffing left.

Between a hint of oak and the vintage this will never be a featherweight, ethereal wine, but it remains a delicious honest nebbiolo at a terrific price. Evolving slowly with many years to go but certainly enjoyable and drinking well now!

Awesome! The age on this wine led to a nose that was a bit muted and more earthy than some other Nebbiolos i've had, but the lush mouthfeel was something to write home about. Very smooth concentrated blueberry, leather, some notes of oak but nothing overpowering. Finish was long and rich with notes of raisins.

This is basically a declassified Barolo. It shows really nice. The color is a medium intensity red. The nose has some tar, flowers, cherry, and strawberry. The palate is medium weight with good acidity and firm tannins. The finish is a little tannic and medium length. Overall, a really nice wine. Excellent QPR. Gives a taste of what Barolo is like for a fraction of the cost.

This wine is quite shut down at the moment - it gives more aromatically than it does on the palate, and the wine is a little austere after losing the baby fat from last year. Still, it is very high quality, and I'll open another bottle in about a year.
