the oxidation was so pronounced in this bottle to make it undrinkable for my tastes - not rated

(Disgorged in 2017) Overly oxidative and heavy on the palate, with limited complexity, though supported by good acidity.

Vouette & Sorbee lineup degustation. We loved each and every sip(except Saignee). And Fidele didn’t get lost among other cuvees. Pinot red fruits, grapefruit, almonds, pastry. Long finish. Juicy and pleasant.

Vouette & Sorbee lineup degustation. Croissant butter, stone fruits, pleasant oxidative note. Rich, broad and with great acidity. Very pleasant already and will evolve…

Very good, pure and complex, but I think even 1g/l of dosage makes it great. Should improve for a few years.

Magnum - Deg. 01-12-21 Deep golden pinot color Opens with autolytic notes of Brioche and developed to present reductive, mineraly and slightly metallic on the nose. As the temperature increases floral notes emerge. On the palate the wine presents with medium length. Red fruit, tannic structure, malolactic notes of caramel and almond resembling cantuccini. Benefits from a slightly higher temperature and a bit of air.

Get this if you can. Wonderful producer. Last nights bottle was beautiful. Nose of crumb bread and pastries. Delightful acidity which makes this one stand out quite a bit. Long aftertaste.

Nice red fruits and good texture but there are definitely some natty notes here. Not more than I can handle but proceed with caution.

More oxidative in style. A little funky honeyed citrus thing going. Lots of acidity. Good but not our favorite style I’d say.

Another bottle (#217 labeled) of the October 2021 disgorgement. 100% Pinot Noir off the estate in Buxières-sur-Arce. I recall on one of my past visits to see Bertrand Gautherot, and his comment that there's never been a synthetic product put on his estate. I know that in the upper plot, where the other family member has some of the vines, there is chemical used up on that plot, and the soil looked dead, sorry, hopeless. Yet, within the V et …

not blind, vintage 2016 Could be fresher, Selosse style, some herbal notes. Powerful but with a refreshing acidity. Good with food. I had it cleaner in mind, especially the BdB. 91

Crushed it with fondue. Instense in the mouth, needs some time in the bottle or some air in the fridge. Loving the lemon brioche on this. Seems to be a recurring theme around this time...

First go with the 2019 base, preceded earlier this week by the 2018 base Argile. That wine was showing delicious, so too is this base of Fidele. Disgorgement was October 2021. We tasted and drank through small pours of the bottle over about 90 mins. And through this time, the wine kept changing. Early on was apple and then lemon meringue (thank you Matt for this call out), then mashed red apple and raspberry, then adding nutmeg and lime peel. …

Great value and very enjoyable NV bubbles. Not the brioche that I enjoy with champs but nice fruit of green apple, wet stones, Lemon meringue, hints of almonds and pecans. Same on nose and palate with some suggestions of honey on finish.

Caramel, marmalade, roasted cashews, ripe apples, grapefruit and ginger candies. A sherry note that's well balanced and not too intense. Creamy mousse, full bodied, med+ acidity, med+ to long finish. Flavors are similar to nose but have more honeyed characteristics.

Very different than last year's bottle - upfront pomelo rind and electric acidity. Very focused and bright. Heavily a citrus vibe and gorgeous in that frame.

Sicilian Wines and Oregon Sunsets (Portland, Oregon) : This is a nose for those that want a more Vinous champagne. It is darting, yet finds a way to come together with tones of red apples, spiced pears, nutty notes, blood oranges, vanilla beans, toast, and some brioche. There is good depth with a style that is unique and definitive. The Medium bodied feel is deft, yet textured and balanced with tart, high acidity that has a bit of bite to …

Already drinking well now with an apple pastry nose that opened quite quickly. As it developed smelled some roasty toast notes that turned to a rose. Lean palate that's complemented by a mineral and chalky finish to avoid something too acidic. Great now, would love to see this when it has some age on it

(This is the Septime La Cave label. Was told is the same as the regular but is also a single parcel, fwiw.) A really dialed in exemplar of the V&S style. A touch of almond and slight oxidation on the nose with tangerine fruit and extra crunchy French bread crust. Perfect texture and knit. White strawberry and a little tropical fruit play underneath.

Ripe fruit showing some yellow apple and a touch of pear. Some white flowers appear after a little while. It is a champagne that is slightly oxidative in style, but very fresh and vibrant on the palate. Vinous and distinctive with a textural mousse. Good length with a quinine-like finish. Really lovely and distinctive Champagne.

Some oxidative notes, lemon, ginger, brioche, piercing acidity that makes it fresh. Parfume is deep and alluring. Like it!

SAC: Evening of wines with some duck (Decoy) : Very much that slightly funky style of champagne where there's a bit of oxidation maybe but it means it. Sour in style. Interesting to drink and a wine that is kindof fun to see how it pairs. From a large format (champagne esp always better in big bottles).

Tasted alongside Fidele, both disgorged June 2020. (d'Argile was R16, Fidele R18). This poured medium gold, and put on quite an austere showing. Super acidic, driven by mineral and tart citrus. Better on day 2, but will definitely wait a few years before I open the next bottle. Preferred Fidele but didn't love either.

This rips. Honeysuckle pear peach on the nose. Some nice candied lemon, just enough roundness in the body to balance the bright acidity. Crisp finish with length for days, more peach pear singing.

R15. Disgorged 24-09-18. Straw golden with olive tinge, initially exuberant bubbles that dissipate quickly. Nose golden fruit, hint of honey. Palate lemony, some richness. A golden fruit, hint of brioche. Fresh and deep. Lovely.

Decanted for 3hrs prior to drinking, due to a note from the winemaker. Noted much more apple cider notes this time around, other than that, similar to my last bottle. Enjoyable, plenty of verve, still way too young to judge. Best with food.

Way too early to be a judge. Needs a substantial amount of time in the bottle to show. Upon popping, saline and autolytic note jump out of the glass, bruised apple, lemon rind, and vanilla wrap the package. Bright fresh acid finish with a medium effervescence. Needs time to unpack.

Bleibt - in bester Erinnerung. Großartiger Stoff!

Disgorged 07-03-17. R14. Transparent golden with delicate bead. Nose slightly toasty, honeyed. Palate a slightly nutty golden apple note, with time develops a lemony note. Good strong acidity balancing a fleshy golden fruit flavor, and a honeyed character at times. Made in a slightly oxidative style and I think benefits from early drinking, not sure if anything to gain from aging. But a rounded and deep champagne as it is right now. 91 pts

Had some funk when first opened. Kept softening and clearing up with air. After a couple of hours, it showed lemon, pears, minerals, with mushroom on the finish. It had a softness I didn’t get in my prior bottles from the same disgorgement. Almost Chablis like. I love this Champagne.

DG 12/2017 R15 A very good expression of this vintage; heavy on ripe yellow fruits such as pineapple, mango, guava, banana, pears; quite oaky on the nose and spice-dominant with pepper, vanilla and clove; lemon candies, verbena, a hint of pastry cream, sea salt; highly mineral with wet stones, some metallic notes and wax. Juicy texture and refreshing acidity. I’ve always loved this wine and this bottle isn’t an exception, I like their style full of minerals and ripe fruits. …

R14 Tasted: Aromas of florals, orchard fruits & rocks. On the palate yellow and green apples, lemon peel, biscuits, nuts and minerals. A generous vinous champagne that I always found to be a good bridge between Champagne and Chablis.
