Good Grenache dominant GSM blend. Red fruit on the palate.

Made of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, and 10% Syrah. Ruby red with a little garnet and bricking on the edges. Nose was coated in sweet berries, alcohol, some clay notes and damp leaves. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium plus body. Stewed berries on the palate with a savory twist like bacon jam. A little heat with pencil lead, and mulberries. Medium finish. Drink till 2018.

An inviting blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mouvedre and 10% Syrah. The rim is cranberry that then shades to blood red and just as quickly to an opaque core. The nose is fulsome with big notes of pleasing smoke, cherry, plum, tobo, a bit of candy apply, brined olives and dark fruit. Purple with medium viscosity in the glass. Nose of berries, roasted green pepper, crushed white pepper, tar and forest fire. Full body, structured and balanced with extracted red and dark berries on the palate. Soft pepper tannin. Secondary BBQ and Fruit Roll-Up. Not too hot for 15.5%. Medium finish. Pleasing wine, good QPR.

If you’re looking for a big New World GSM, then don’t look here. This wine will never be confused with the cocktail GSMs mass produced down under. But if you are looking for a GSM that is truly New World, but distinctly worthy of Old World reverence, Augie’s el Maestro is one GSM to consider (80% Grenache, 10% Mouvedre and 10% Syrah).
