Jean-Claude Boisset Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes

Quite a pale hue; an unusual herbal nose, not obviously PN; a little odd on the palate too, fruit is a hidden. I think this going through an odd phase.

Impressive material! Rich and pure with both red and black pinot fruit coming through today with definitive floral influences, rose and violet on the nose and in the mouth. Supple, pliant texture that shows no undue heaviness. Seductive mouthfeel. Very elegant and transparent for '15 red right now.

Beautiful Chambolle. Neon ruby in the glass. Fruit segues from black cherry with some cedary spackle to ultra-pure red tones with nary any indication of oak. There's a savoriness at the core that's almost fish-saucy and something stony reverberating on the back end. The texture is pure velvet - there is a whole lot of tannin giving it a finely furry veneer but it's soft and pliant like satin.

Spicy and generous, laden with creamy black cherry fruit. Full, floral, complex and layered. Expansive in the mouth. Solid mineral base. So long. Quite brilliant.
