Paired beautifully across a nice range of dishes at Blue Duck, no formal TN, but quite tasty rn.

Getting down to the end of the case, 1 left after tonight. Has lost a little of it's 'sweet' on its fruit, but the fruit is still strong and very flavorful. Discovered Mad Hatter after having Tuck Beckstoffers Dancing Hares at restaurant, kind like a second wine for Dancing Hares. A Bordeaux blend, predominant Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A full bodied, well balanced, fruit forward red blend. Great value.

Pretty accurate and quite delicious per prior couple notes, after 90 mins of air time this hit on all cylinders with the initial spices / heat integrating into a minty-eucalyptus-peppery profile, with dark blue-black berry and currant fruits, coffee, and a creamy rounded finish. Way too easy to drink.

This particular vintage retains great bang for the buck.....even nursing a bad head cold and a sore throat, this wine pushes some great buttons. The fruit is smooth and deep. Plenty of lead pencil and blackberry and smooth tannins still retaining some medium atringency. Acidity is weakening a bit in this bottle, so maybe better to drink these up in the next year or two?

Starting to change just a bit. Still luscious sweet fruit on opening, but....within an hour of getting air, there is a slight aged turn and I like it! Same as previous bottles as far as nose and flavor profile, however, this bottle seems to have more electric acidity than previous bottles. This particular bottle could have gone 3-5 more years, easy....glad I have a few left!

Consistent from bottle to bottle and so much better than more recent vintages which are totally different blends. A great blend of 69% cab and a heaping of merlot with a few other tidbits. Rich, complex and great depth. Drinks way past it's price point, IMO.

A solid 93-94 red blend......enjoyable by itself if you're not into eating anything. Smooth BDX blend from good old CA. This particular year's blend of cab and merlot with a dollop of others just floats my boat. Every year is a different ratio.......wish they were all like this.

Very nice medium bodied napa cabernet drinking well at this juncture. Very nice nose, excellent mouthfeel and very good balance. Had with a wonderful B cellars Star vineyard provide by my friend mark1npt that was much bigger yet I preferred the more restrained mad hatter tonight. High praise as the B Cellars was excellent but IMO needed a bit more air.

Probably one of the surprises out of the Napa cab/BDX world. This wine has evolved into a beautiful, deep, layered, classy red. It is smooth and perfectly integrated right now. The full package, nose, flavor profile and mouthfeel all in one. A tremendous value in the overpriced world of the Napa cabernet blend world. Technically it's only 69% cab so it can't be called that, so if you like your red blends this is one for you guys! (and girls)

Decanted for about an hour prior to consumption, drank at cellar temp initially then let warm closer to room temperature. Pours ruby red with a slight hint of purple. Nose: Ripe dark berries, plum, brandy. On the attack, Dark cherries and blackberry fruit transitioning to anise, vanilla, and bakers chocolate. Relative to about a year ago (May 2017) when I tasted this vintage for the first time, this has improved considerably. Most of the baby fat, including extra oak and heavy ripeness, is gone. Tannins are still a little too intrusive but not overly aggressive. The fruit is dominated by a combination of red and blue fruit notes, with layers of flavors after 1-2 hours of decanting. Beautiful dark ruby in the glass, red/black fruit nose, smooth entry with lots of fruit when first opened, melding into a nice chocolate/mocha ending with beautifully paired acidity and velour-like tannins....this is one smooth red blend and well worth the price point, IMO.

2013 Dancing Hares Mad Hatter Napa Valley. 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. Too young and clumsy, upon opening, with a ton of unintegrated new oak. With several hours of decanting, improved but stylistically remained distinctly fruit-forward, closer to Caymus than, e.g., Corison.
