Huia, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough

New world SB doesn't typically hit my fancy, but this wine is a fun summer refresher. Light hay in color with some hints of platinum. Nose of lime zest, finger time flesh, gooseberry, saline, sand a hint of passion fruit leaf. Acid is huge, mouthfeel is medium minus, dry, medium alcohol, and it's a fairly concentrated wine. A bit subtle yet crisp and refreshing, the 2022 Huia Sauvignon Blanc excels with its green apple, lime and sweet smoke profile. I might not pick it out as New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc blind, but I also wouldn't pass up on a refill.

A really nice NZ SB for this price. Such nice green apple flavors and crisp acidity.

Nice. Not too much grass. Bright with grapefruit. Somewhat soft. Nice.

Unscrewed and poured. Vibrant lemon/lime aroma. Very tart flavors of citrus, wet stone, and minerals. Intense citrus finish. Firm acids that stop just short of enamel stripping intensity. Linear, with lively, fresh flavors. Very good value. Proof that NZ can make a quality sauvignon blanc that isn't a parody of itself - which I knew, but empirical evidence has been hard to come by.

Medium nose shows white flowers, kiwi, lime zest. Palate more expressive, grapefruit zest, passionfruit, lime juice, limestone, mineral tone that is nice, juicy but clean, medium plus acidity and finish. Not over the top and nice for entry level.

Nose: very mild green herbaceous notes, gooseberry and pressed fruit. Palate: tropical, with guava and lime. Good acidity, nicely balanced, this a well made S. blanc.
