Guy Breton, P'tit Max, Morgon

Expected a bit more perhaps given how old the vines are here and the usage of old DRC barrels, but this was juicy, vibrant, and easy to drink. Took a little time for the nose to unwind which was rather subdued initially and then developed some hay/straw character over the bubble gum / banana carbonic aromatics. Will be curious to try the other vintage I have.

cherry, strawberry, low to medium tannin, medium finish jujube

PnP. Nose of sour cherry, mulch, and unripe watermelon. Crisp unripe cherry, sour apple, and cranberry riven with acidity, adding rose water, allspice and lemon peel as it develops. Light tannins and granite on the finish as the sour acidity drives the saliva glands. Improved with time in the glass.

Lovely, charming Beaujolais, perfect for pizza night and late night with friends. Transparent ruby, just slightly cloudy. Aromas of crunchy cranberries and raspberry candy, and just a hint of crushed rock and tomato stem. Medium bodied, fresh and balanced, juicy and with just the slightest tannic grip. Sweet red berries in a decently long finish. Drink now or in the next four years (no reason to wait).

Very light and ethereal, unlike what I expect from a Guy Breton wine. Integrated whiffs of Brett and VA mingle into fresh, almost Jura-esqe, red fruit peels with a dollop of old leather, lemon peel and rosemary. Palate is fresh and easygoing with lingering tart fruits and earth. Finish is medium plus length with soft fruits, leather and river stones. I served this in my wine course. Aromatic nose with intense orange citrus and violets. Light bodied. Excellent finish with strong acidity, tea leaf tannins and orange rind bitters. Wow, this is really impressive!

Wow, this was a surprise. This comes from really old vines and is generally quite concentrated and heady. This is labeled at 12% abv with really light color. It's very Gamay with fragrant berries and lilacs. Generally lithe and linear with a juicy finish. Has an old vine sappiness to the fruit without much weight. I don't expect this to age but for drinking over the next few years, it's a delightful blast from the past.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days. Best on Day 3 but slayed from Day 1. The 2021 “P’tit Max” sources fruit from Guy Breton’s oldest vines in Les Charmes; some nearing a century old. Double blind tasting Pale ruby, unfiltered Aromatics medium +. Raspberry, ripe cherry, mild candied note. No oak Palate has medium body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium, fine grained. Alcohol medium +. Raspberry, ripe cherry again. Finish has medium length, but balance is towards the alcohol. I guessed cru beaujolais, but would have liked less alcohol. Ready to drink now, but I'm not sure what aging more would yield

First of a case. Cant remember what specifically prompted me to get these. Nose of high toned cranberry and pomegranate followed by some sweet ripe banana. Definitely some carbonic maceration going on. Palate: bright raspberry and red currant. Initially the carbonic banana note but with air and time puts on some weight and pleasing minerality kicks in.
