Gravner, Breg Anfora, Venezia Giulia IGT

Served in Radikon glass (“Leaf” day): Clearer and brighter copper orange colours. Some sweet florals upfront with less intense fruits but more “classic” than the Radikon Oslavje tasted side by side. Arguably better balanced of the two tasted but also more tannic and less mineral. Very good tight finish. Really well made and different style than the Radikon. 93-94 points.

A unique pleasure like always. Very much enjoy the experience of these wines.

Very similar note as previous bottle. Extremely unique and interesting, but slightly softer and rounder than the special 2005.

Jervois Wine Bar + '08 Musar (Jervois Rd Wine Bar + Kitchen, Auckland) : The "Breg" is a blend of Riesling Italico, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Dark burnt orange color with a hint of ruby. Nose is slightly more aromatic than the Ribolla. Spiced pear, toasty honey notes. Slight savory fur (possible brett). Apple butter. Slight hint of peach, savory peach pit. Dry, medium plus body, medium plus alcohol (feels 14%), medium plus acid, medium minus tannins. Beautiful development. …

A unique and wonderful experience as is usually the case with the wines from Gravner. A touch of smoke over the top of the warm peach, apricot and spiced apples. Hints of licorice liquor and sherry show themselves in this layered wine. Always interesting and ever evolving. Enjoyed over 3 days. Didn't quite have the energy of the 2005, but quite nice.
