This had a beautiful nose - young fruit hint of spice. On taste smooth tannins with great body and nice fruit. This wine was more about texture and fruit. This has aged nicely but still extremely young. Huge long finish, but the tannins, although smooth, are there adding to the finish.

Final bottle. The colour is still an inky, deep purple - very little tawny hints at all. Flavour wise, it still packs a punch - plenty of blue and black fruits (plus hints of cocoa, spice and warm bricks) married to significant acidity and a barrel load of tannin on the finish. It is a wine that frankly needs a big steak, a vintage cheddar or both - as it stands, I'm not sure there is enough fruit to support …

Paul D's review below is spot on - couldn't have said it better myself. Probably best suited to pair with food (a aged Cheddar would be nice). Will wait and see if the fruit will eventually balance out the tannins - not 100% confident myself.

Decanted and then immediately served. Strikingly youthful appearance with a deep ruby core and a narrow pale ruby rim. Nose is deep, with spicy dark fruit, undergrowth but also an alluring floral top note. Medium/full bodied, dark, smoky fruit, spice, rich earth and undergrowth, sumptuous contrasting acidity but then the tannins kick in and somewhat dominate the shortish finish. Very drinkable but a few more years may yet tame those tannins and thus improve it significantly.

Superbe Cahors, tous les parfums sont la, tanins fondus, fruit, longueur en bouche, pas de lourdeur... plusieurs bouteilles bues et toutes excellentes

Bright mauve, heady nose of violets and red fruit with menthol. Understated, builds up to red fruits, pencil shavings, firm balanced tannins medium length. Very good.

Almost black purple. Very dark fruit and menthol on nose. Smooth, blackberries, very firm tannins and sharp acidity, plenty of life left, very attractive but...

Dark purple. Very attractive nose, dark fruit, some herbs. Big smooth fruity, average to short length but tannins very balanced (day 2). Very nice.

Full and fruity but heavy tannins still present. IF the tannins melow before the fruit fades this will be truly excellent. Will let you know in a year from now.

The colour was a rich dark purple, just fading at the rim. On the nose cedar, leather and rich plum. On the palate still a lot of tannins. Strangely with time both the palate and nose shut down, or could that be my hay fever shutting mine down?

Plenty of colour and a lovely fresh bouquet of plums and oak--quite medoc-like. But the severity and firmness of the tannins and to some extent the acidity are not at all resolved (I expected this from trying it c1yr ago) though having given it a second chance I suspect it won't ever come into balance. I know that the Cahors thing is to be "hard", but I'm more inclined to excuse/enjoy such tannins when there's some really wild fruit rather …

Nose muted at first, but opens nicely over 1-hour, gains to be decanted. Notes of cedar, kirsch, dark fruits. Intense, long, multilayered, complex. Will get better, but already a wonderful wine. Without hesitation.

Outstanding example of Malbec. Dark as night with slight pepper and dark berry fruits on the nose. A true mouth full, full bodied and powerful. Lush red fruit and faint pepper in the mouth.
