Domaine Ren� Leclerc Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. Jacques

Purchased form the domaine.. appears to have been recorked at some point in the not so distant past. I don't know what to make of this wine... just kind of dull all around. Started off with a nice old burgundy nose, but after a few hours of Audouzing the nose seems to have become more subdued. A bit of burgundy silk on the palate and some nice acidity but the flavors were really mostly muddied, maybe even a bit watered …

Dense, suggestively fruity nose. Explosive in mouth - the butcher's truck crashed into a humidor. Various smoked Gevrey meats enjoyed while moistening a fine Cuban. Long, long ashy acidic finish. Backed by good dense fruit. No fade.
