PNP at Istrian agricultural commune. Dark intense magenta color. Rich plum, blueberry, blackberry, and cheese danish. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the medium long finish. I had this twice during my week long Balkan visit because I enjoyed it so much. “Black Malvazija” is an Italian varietal that Tomaz now grows in Istria (Croatia). The only thing lowering my score is the relatively short finish. This is 95+ with a longish finish.

PNP at the winery. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, raspberry, and sugar cookie come to mind. Smooth, dry palate, with fine, tongue coating acidity. Plush, lower intensity tannins on the medium short finish. This was very surprising. Black Malvazija is only made by Tomaz (outside of Italy). It’s aged 9 months in American oak and 9 months in Slavonian oak. It’s got the weight of Sangiovese. It will certainly improve.
