Zorzal, Garnacha Blanca, Navarra

Did not care for this tonight. Definitely needs food. Melon and a bit too much sweetness, with an undertone of something I can’t identify but don’t care for.

Wish I could put a name to the vegetal note I’m getting here. It was a nice surprise that I didn’t expect after smelling the wine. Stands up to chicken cooked with tomato and paprika.

Pale straw - surprisingly citrusy and lean on the nose (for a Garnacha Blanca). Fabulously fresh and energetic, vibrant, apricots/white fruits, a touch of white pepper reminiscent of Grüner Veltliner. Unusual - or perhaps unfamiliar - expression of this variety, but good. The winemaker insisted that this "expresses the real character of Garnacha Blanca".
