A relatively youthful dark maroon colour. No decanting required. Intense nose of sweet red fruits, strawberries, cherries, compote, and roses that gradually dissipated. There was a very subtle hint of oak. Had the classic cherry aromas associated with Pinot Noir. Palate was equally pleasant, red fruits, with a touch of salinity. Very drinkable, tannins were imperceptible. I was very much surprised by this bottle, reaffirming my view that there's tonnes of value to be had in NZ PNs. Delicious!

Curiously little on the nose and if anything more vegetal than fruit aromas - light cabbage, wet moss, cut wood and some black pepper. Medium-bodied and full of flavour in the mouth. Spicy, dry, mixed forest fruits - a sort of earthy juiciness and deliciously chewy. Good tannins still - his could last longer.

Ruby red hue. A well rounded and layered wine with dark cherries and ripe plum. A very pleasing drink. Still got plenty of life in it, I would happily drink it over the next three years and reassess then.

There are primary aromas of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry), black fruit (black cherry, blackberry, bramble), secondary aromas of oak (toast, cedar, charred wood, vanilla, cloves), coffee, and tertiary aromas of bottle age (dried leaves, earth, braised meat). The wine is developing. On the palate, the wine is dry with …
