Château de Ciffre Faugères Terroirs d'Altitude

A nice warming wine made from Syrah sur schistes 55%, Grenache vieilles vignes 35%, Mourvèdre 10% good to accompany a rich winter stew. Deep coloured and medium/full bodied, it showed brighter and fresher berry fruit than many from a similar grape cocktail and latitude accompanied by good depth and generosity, some minerals, spice and meridional herbs, decent acidity and a liquorice tinge on the finish well supported by ripe tannins. Good wine and fair QPR at c.€10.
