L'approccio è scuro: il frutto è nero confuso, polveroso. Bocca di medio peso con tannino graffiante soprattutto sul finale. Vino di non grande fascino, poco moderno nella sua ricerca di opulenza e carenza di acidità. Da solo annoia presto, in abbinamento con piatti ignoranti di carne fa migliore figura ma senza sussulti: piacerà forse di più ai bevitori del Nuovo mondo... Per fortuna i migliori chianti classico vanno in tutt'altra direzione.

My first Tenuta Cappellina, and this Tuscan Sangiovese blend was ever so impressive and surprisingly complex too. Blackberry and hints of tobacco on the nose, some vanilla coming through as the temperature in the glass moved from 10C to 16C. Lovely acidity, much appreciated. Medium ruby with some browning on the rim. Cherries, coffee, violet, chocolate and vanilla on the nose. Grippy tannins accompanied with high acidity. Palette is consistent with the nose. Medium finish. Great with steak. Much more balanced any juicy on the 2nd day.

Chianti Classico, Riserva, Gran Selezione, etc., new releases; 2/17/2020-2/18/2020 (Stazione Leopalda, Firenze) : Anteprima Chianti Classico Collection, Florence Oak, red fruits, and a bit of soil. This needs time but shows structure, and purity to get there. I'd let these rest another 5 years, at which time this will no doubt over-deliver on its modest price.
