Bonfire party (Lower Farm) : From magnum, tasted alongside the 2015 Chapelle d'Alienor from the same producer (also in magnum) - this one is made from more-established vines but a lesser vintage. Consistent with previous notes, offering a good balance between interest and accessibility.

Summer asado (Lower Farm) : From mag. I had worried this would be a bit heavy on its own in the hot weather, but with the lamb it was great.

A private dinner with C&L & Nel (Lower Farm) : Short decant. Accessible and generous. Good with roast lamb, if not particularly structured/grippy.

H playdate with Graham (Ramsden) : From magnum, short decant, with rare roast beef. Accessible and pleasurable, if not particularly distinctive.

A perfect English summer country house birthday party : From magnum, pnp. Immediately accessible and really enjoyable, on its own before the food was served then worked well with the red meats. Everyone enjoyed this a lot.

From magnum, short decant. Open, accessible, pleasurable. Everyone enjoyed it. Unobtrusive, in a good way. With roast chicken.

A post-lockdown weekend with friends; 5/1/2021-5/3/2021 (Copse Hill, Lower Slaughter) : Mrom magnum. Short decant. Opened after the 2015 Château La Gaffelière Chateau Chapelle d'Alienor. This is clearly the junior wine and the lesser vintage, but showed surprisingly well with really lovely soft sweet fruit, very mellow, less structure and grip. Opened up significantly on day two. With lamb.
