Still drinking well. Solid tannins and not showing its 19 years at all. I would only mention to drink now, because I have never had a bottle of CSJCC that tasted as great as this one.

I drank this bottle based on Cellar Tracker giving me notice that it is at peak. However, while the wine was very good, it still had some firm tannins and would have benefited from 3-10 years of additional time in the cellar to reach its full potential with soft tannins.

If you have it, drink it. It may still get better, but this is fantastic.

United Polaris wine. Black cassis and plum with faintly sweet spice, good weight and balance with plenty of fun now.

Too sweet for me, but party goers liked it. My girl does too. Way overpriced, though.

Served on United flight (Hong Kong to San Francisco). Deep dark magenta color. Plum, raspberry, cream cheese frosting, and subtle thyme. Dry, satiny palate, with fine acidity. Full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. This is a terrific QPR. I liked it more than a week ago when I had it going in the other direction. It would be even better on the ground. The acid and tannins both have a good linger.

PNP. Very very deep magenta color. Baby powder, grape leaf, black cherry, pumpkin pie, and apple core. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish. Served in Polaris cabin on my United flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong. I suspect this would be better at home. The nose and palate were distorted by the altitude. Decent drinker nonetheless.

This is a much bigger wine than I remember. Lots of time left in the bottle and it will likely get better. I will hold off and drink my next one Ina a year. Good color and body. Very fruit forward but has many other flavors as well. With time it will be more complex and softer.

Mid-Aged Zinfandel and Cali Cab Dinner (Casa Garard - Northfield IL) : Tasted double blind in vertical. Rich and ripe black plum and cassis, this wine convinced me the vertical was California. Same profile as the older wines, just fatter and more reliant on richness vs complexity. Others liked this more, but it was my 3rd fav of the 4 vintages.

Smooth, attractive and mellow. Fruit has melded nicely, but finishes a little short with a gentle sherry undertone. This bottle began with an unfortunate streak of TCA, which blew off after a few hours. Drink now.

Opened up to try prior to serving with a Christmas dinner of beef tenderloin and all the trimmings. Still going strong. It has definitely mellowed but still a lot of fruit. Looking forward to seeing how it pairs with the filet roast. Merry Christmas everyone, and I hope you can find some joy in the remainder of this train wreck of a year.

This had a strong showing from the start with a deep red color and good structure in the glass. I decanted it. There was a mild amount of sediment in the bottom. It was delicious still in early 2020 and did not feel past it’s prime.

The fruit is still wrapped up in a layer of tannin but I am not sure if keeping the wine longer is going to release all the fruit that is delicious as well. If you have a bottle give it another 3-4 years in the cellar.

Opened and strained for very significant sediment from a half bottle. Still fine-grained sediment remains in the glass. A dark ruby in the glass, with a strong nose of candied raspberry, blackberry, black currant, vanilla and a cedar tobacco box. Our experience is very much in-line with TOMOEM below. I don't remember a vintage of Cinq Cepages that has this much tobacco/charcoal/ash character. My SO likes this more than I do on this occasion. Drank on its own, which may …

The wine has great color, ruby with garnet toward the rim. The aromas are of blackberry, Blackcurrant, clove, cedar, and mushroom. The wine is well balanced. I would drink this vintage now, or within the next year.

Beautiful wine with a cream mouthfeel texture and clear age on the palette. Fresh still on the nose with strawberry and smoked cedar. That said it is on the mid palette that this wine shines. A dried cherry and charchol combination which just rings of class. This is royalty in the sub $50 blend. On the finish the wine is slightly disappointing because the tannins and dried cherry emerge. It is over 12 years at tasting so I suppose this …

At the Bobs. 2 hour decant. As a year ago except that this wine has matured some more and exhibits even more very interesting very dark characteristics--like cassis, tabacco, licorice, tar, smoke. Still nice bouquetand color. Not a fruit bomb, but a sophisticated Bordeaux style cab. Very good complexity and balance. Light sediment. Still seems to be no hurry, but it is different than a year ago so it is changing (so far for the better in my opinion). I …

Purchased a few in 2012 and aged ~5years in my cellar. Decent, but wanted to like it more for the wine's reputation and price. In the same price range, bottles of Pedestal Merlot or Col Solare would represent a much better investment choice for cellar space.
