Schloss Schönborn Johannisberger Klaus Riesling Spätlese

Golden color, lovely nose of petrol/gasoline/candied lime and crushed minerals. Great value! Dry on the palate but unctuous with candied dried pineapple notes.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to think. The nose is perfect - petrol and candied lemons. The palate on the other hand is conflicting. It's nice and light and there's a ghost of complexity, but I think this one is just a year or two past its peak. Still some nice hints of peach/apricot and mineral, very light acidity, some mango and plum. But a weird little metallic tang as well. Still, I'll take it.
