Similar to most prior bottles, this wine starts off shutdown/reduced, and requires at least 30 minutes to calm down. As noted before, this takes 30 minutes to calm down... at first I was certain I had another dud like in February, but not so. This bottle is now exhibiting much more elegance than my bottle from February... thankfully! My final bottle from a half case. One prior bottle had possessed a magic balance of dried raspberries and strawberries mixed with subtle earth. Then two duds. This one again lacks the dried fruit. With lots of air/time, the sour notes soften and some pretty earthy, herby flavors remain. But without the dried fruit flavors, it falls short of excellent/90.

Second straight weak bottle, so I'm posting a number on this one. Yeah, I loved my first bottle in early 2021. But the last two have been devoid of beautiful fruit or a suitable replacement.

Withholding a rating because this bottle greatly underwhelmed relative to my last one, though this wasn't flawed per se. We pulled this from the cellar and drank without decant, and that perhaps really held it back. Little fruit showed. Lesson I guess is to be sure to give it a bit of air and warmth before drinking. Either that, or bottle variation.

Popped a second bottle of six because it's 2021, and one drinking window starts in 2021. Decanted 45m before drinking began with a savory, slightly spiced pork loin dinner. Quite good, especially nice on day 2 and 3. Lots of dark red fruits, loads on minerality. Various spice notes make it interesting. In general, very typical in a very good way, a bit larger than most 14's I have had. Will hold the other for some years, as this will improve a bunch in the coming years.

Firm red cherry and berry with savory spice. More dense than bright with a powerful, firm character from middle through finish. Still clearly backward, with an expanding but rugged finish that will reward another few years in the cellar, probably with 90+ point potential. I had no experience with this producer before buying, but took a chance based on critics' reviews and price, and am optimistic that patience will pay off.

Popped and poured, medium garnet. Stunningly perfumed nose of fresh red berries, pronounced florals, green funk, crushed spices, spring onion, autumnal vegetation & more. Moderate body, plus acidity. On the palate, crystalline fruit is complimented by a profound impression of minerals throughout w/tremendous length on the close. So transparent & terroir-driven, this is as distinctive (if not idiosyncratic) an example of Beaujolais being made today, a harmonious sum of perfectly balanced flavor, complexity & structure - absolutely thrilling juice!

This is an incredibly serious Fleurie. On first pop it was showing some reduction, so let it blow off for 30 minutes, but now... wow. I almost didn't notice the wine's elegance until I really sat down for the note. The wine is dark for Beaujolais. The aromas are deeply penetrating; spice, briar, applewood smoke, cranberry... who cares what it smells like. Perfumey with green strawberry, Christmas spice and violet/red blue flowers. Nose shows a nice tartness with gravel and clay notes. Lean and crisp with a back palate of sour berry. Very nice.
