Haliotide Wines Blanc de Blanc Late Disgorged Stolo Vineyards

Delicious but terrible QPR at $139. Ripening honeycrisp, baking brioche, amalfi lemon zest, oceanic breeze on the nose. Ripe lemon, lemon curd, slight nuttiness and oyster shell underneath the powerful acid. Long finish.

Sommelier Appreciation Dinner 2025 (RB Residence) : Clean and refreshing nose, succulent white fruit, apple, lemon curd, honeysuckle, white pepper, sweet spices, and limestone. Good concentration, succulent white citrus fruit, rich yet refreshing, fine creamy mousse, bright acidity and mineral, and a medium to long white fruit driven finish. It is drinking nicely.

Color is straw gold. Nose is fresh apple, fresh sea spray, orange zest, hint of creamy vanilla, some toastiness with air. Palate is lemon zest, slate, salinity, orchard fruit. Good but the QPR is lacking compared with comparable Champagne from the Cote des Blancs.

I compared this 2017 Haliotide Late Disgorged BdB to the 2016 Ultramarine Heintz BdB to get a feel for styles. Followed over two days with no change. I’ve had the Haliotide rosé and thought it was really expressive. Lots of bright red fruit. I love late disgorged offerings so I picked this up to try. This Haliotide spent 68 months en tirage!
