This is simply delicious. Strawberries, tart cranberries, cedar, iron, some balsamic, wet soil. Great acidity and a bit sweet, but the right amount that is balanced out by the acidity.

Light silt and clay soil sitting on deeply fractured columnar rock. Leaner style than Worden Hill. Bit closed still, but very energetic nonetheless. Lean style, pure. Medium intense aromas of rose hip, raspberry, cranberry, redcurrant, toast, biscuit, white pepper, tobacco, espresso, wet stone. Dry wine, high acidity, medium- tannins, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity, long finish. €122,95 @ Le Vineur

A little reductive. Confected red fruits especially cherry, some cotton candy, noticeable oak with vanilla/cream soda going on. On palette, good depth of fruit and intriguing body. Lower acidity than expected/hoped but pretty balanced and has a long finish. Overall, not my favorite, feels more like a wine made in the cellar as opposed to the vineyard, but clearly high quality fruit.

Popped-and-poured. Slightly reductive start that I do not recall from prior bottles. Lots of red and back berry aromas and flavors with an Asian five spice character, good richness and weight. Certainly good now, likely some further upside from here.

Pop and pour. Reduction dominated the nose upon opening. Decanted, better with air. After 24 hrs open, red fruit and intense spice. On the palate: lovely acidity and solid density, soft tannin. Wait a long while for final btl.

Not great night one. It’s got some kind of funk. Better day 2, though still not the greatest qpr at $39.

Bright red fruits with lots of baking spice. Charming with very good balance and nuance, seemingly less heft and concentration than I recall from previous bottles. Then a step up in depth on Day Two.

Reminds me of Bell Hill. Soft texture with dry tannins. Fennel seed, mushroom, earthy, red cherry, toast. 93.5

Also agree on the previous notes about similarity to Grenache. Red fruit, lots of black pepper and some bacon at the end. Still light and has structure. Would be curious to try another in 5 years.

Cranberry, maybe with some raspberry/strawberry, earth, and leather. Similar to another note, this could have passed as grenachr for me. Not bad by any means but not my favorite expression.

Max S's impression matches mine, although it's lower ABV than most Grenaches. There's a savory note on the finish. Drank with Susanna and Jerome at CD23.

Consistent quality here, on my 4th CT note. Slightly reduced, but evokes rich, ripe Russian River Valley fruit, exotic floral phenolics of viognier in great Cote Rotie, and the voluptuous texture of the best Volnay; it is the antithesis of “easy drinking Village burgundy “. Huh? Please try again! It is not at all of “type”, whatever the hell that means as climate change and vintner’s radical interventions move pinot noir into a hundred permutations, but it is a fascinating …

Interesting. I can't say I've had another Pinot quite like this. The flavors seem almost more on the Gamay or Grenache spectrum, but it is still medium/light in body and Oregonian. I get almost a manure funk on the nose...not reductive, just different. The fruit is really pretty and expressive. It will be interesting to try this again in a year.

Opened in HK. P&P and enjoyed. Slight reductive funk upon opening that I didn't expect, and even though the nose cleaned up with some air it never fully went away. Quite clean on the palate, mostly red-fruit driven but not very expressive, felt quite thin for concentration and was a clear step down from the other bottle that I had (Red Dust '18) a few weeks ago. Good to try but felt more like easy drinking village Burgundy than anything …

My third note on CT for this beauty, and she is evolving wonderfully . Yes, the first 15 minutes of bouquet could fairly be described as a little bretty (more so than reduced) but its not a much different funk than what we love in many great Rhones, old Graves, and more than a few bottles of aged Musigny and Gevrey. Of greater interest is that the power of its sweet fruit, dark minerality, and the silky persistent tannic structure …

Floral red and black berries throughout with Asian five spice. Good density with a brightening acid backbone that keeps this energetic and well balanced. Entering its peak drinking window.

This still had what seems like a reductive funk initially upon opening, but a quick decant and this mostly fades into the background; ripe dark fruits with a tinge of game and orange peel, some cherry blossom; good depth with a sauve and silky feel; maybe lacks a tiny bit of energy for me, but overall very enjoyable.

This still had some reduction on the nose for me, but less than prior bottles; there is ripe red fruits, floral notes, and spice on the nose otherwise. Good concentration and balance. Good, but better stuff out there for the price.

On August 24th, 2022 - I got to experience a full spectrum tasting of the currently available Rose and Arrow wines. This included samples from six different bottlings spanning two vintages: 2017 & 2018. The 2017 Hopewell Hills suffered from the unfortunate disadvantage of being pitted against some of the finest Pinots that have ever been crafted in the Willamette Valley. Surely, every single one of these wines was exquisite but it's only natural to rank them and have a …

Dark plummy fruit, with tons of white pepper. Medium acidity with a touch of funkiness. Tannins are fairly coarse and needs age to resolve. If blinded I would guess Northern rhone.

Im no less enthusiastic with this bottle than I was with the one in February. Again, a shimmering translucent garnet color, lots of black cherry, dark minty loam, iodine and shoe polish aromas. In the mouth, sweet lavender, black raspberries, a lighter body, but near medicinal concentration of flavor; some cola, and nutmeg. Compelling 30 second finish, hint of pit bitterness, and superbly balanced acidic/tannic structure , just enough to keep the sweet fruit in check. I dropped it a …
