Domaine Drouhin, Louise Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills

Better after 2 hours of aeration. Lovely wine showing some bricking that is exhibiting definite maturation of the palate. Still retains vibrant acidity. Nearing the end of my drinking window (2026).

2009 vintage

Had with Thanksgiving dinner. Peak. Lovely, deep red fruit, acidity still on point, chocolate, Fèng Huáng black tea, a little damp earth, smooth resolved tannins, finish went on forever. Pinot that has aged this well is a treasure.

2000 vintage

This was really quite lovely; I don't have a lot of experience with this cuvee, but really enjoyed the 2014; this was just as good; very perfumed red fruit with spiced tea and floral notes. Suave and seductive on the palate with a very silky feel; very clearly new world, but really well made in a fashion that gives elegance to the ripe fruit.

200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore) : Pirate bottle. This was deeper with more more pine tree, darker pitched, masculine, sweet and dark at the same time. Impressive. The Drouhin flight was really excellent across the board in this tasting.

Tasted blind in a Burg line up. Medium garnet with browning hue. Rich and ripe nose here with spice box, bakery, some tertiary funk. Great palate with well integrated tannins. Mature and graceful.

Aerated for 2 hours prior to drinking. Bountiful maturing fruit and great acidity. Medium to long finish. A beautiful wine at the midstage of the drinking window. I am extending my drinking window out to 2026.

Very good but not outstanding. Took to a restaurant, popped and poured. Pleasant nose of earth, tea, and smoke. Rich cherry flavors on the palate, but fairly simple. Nicely balanced with a medium length finish.

This was quite good, but not outstanding by any means. A little hot on opening but that seemed to be temporary. Very rich fruit, well structured, somewhat smoky, a little heavier than I expect for Oregon Pinot and nicely balanced even. All that being said it wasn't really inspiring.

Decanted mag bottle and let sit for one hour. Well integrated with lots of dark fruit. Drinking beautifully, paired with beef tenderloin done on a Trager grill.

- Ruby color with medium forming legs. It's lacking fruit with a light/medium body. Narrow texture with a short finish - Drank with Kisky at Black Butte while we cooked dinner. Our cook's wine.

DRC Tasting Group (Cafe Veloce) : Tasted blind. Darker purple color. Much more mushroom, earth and smoke on the nose (perhaps a bit of brett). The body started off a little light, but built up some richness in the mid-palate, and then finished firm.

This is a very classical pinot noir masked by massive oak. On the nose i could not smell anything else but notes coming from oak incuding coffee, dark chocolate and smoke. With some swirls and decanting time it did show more floral notes but did not open up very well to show more. On the palate i could really taste potential. It is a very good wine but for now just save it and visit it in 3 years until …

End-of-Summer bounty with wines (Chicago) : Dark ruby, verging on purple. Very dark-fruited on the nose, with a dash of turned soil to complicate things. Given the vintage, this has unsurprisingly low(ish) acidity in the mouth, contributing to a broad, fruity texture. The fruit is of great quality though, plush, velvety, and long on the front of the palate. There's some tannic structure left as well, thought it's mostly buffered by the fruit. Dark berries including cherry and raspberry combine with cola and wet leaves. Well-balanced wine. Still has some time left - too bad it's our last bottle.

Seemingly more intense than ever, this is tasting like a serious Burgundy. Excellent.

Red/black in color with a slight magenta hue near edges. No bricking whatsoever. Nose of dark fruit, black cherries, some bittersweet chocolate, mint and bits of orange peel. Palate is silky smooth and medium bodied with more black cherry and plum, some earth and and fragrant violets. Slight astringency on the finish, but tannins are fine grained. Great 20 second finish with earth, underbrush and some graphite. This will certainly hold up for quite a few more years.

drank for sue's b-day @ crusteacian. What a wonderful pinot. Smooth lovely european pinot, not overt the top. decanted for 30-45 min. got even better as the evening went on. Wonderful fruit, and earth combination. The wine really evolved on the palette. Distictive from start to finish.
