Rivarey Tempranillo Rioja Crianza

"A rustic wine for rustic food" indeed. I like it, particularly with lots of air and served a bit cool. But "rustic" implies that it's a bit rough around the edges, wich I don't think this is. Just nice juice with a hint of dusty tannin and quenching acidity, both of which makes this great at the table. Good choice for a weeknight wine with dinner (I had this with some quick baked ziti), particularly for the money. Excellent QPR.

Served with Eye of Round roast with Rosemary/horseradish cream sauce, mashed potatoes, and grean beans. Deep garnet, a touch of purple. Non-descript nose. Dry, dark brooding fruit. Not particularly muscular, mid-weight. Acid is balanced. A touch of spice. A bit rustic, played well with the Rosemary in the roast. In the realm of things not great - but what do you want for $7.99. A rustic wine for rustic food.
