Warm, spicy oak notes offer captivating if fleeting aromatics. Butternut. Rather dark fruit flavors with leathery notes that lead into a moderately long and somewhat juicy finish. I’m not sure I’d let this age a whole lot longer as the fruit plays second fiddle to the fruit. 4-12-14-7: 87/100. After tasting again, I am getting an almost nutty, sherry-like aftertaste on the tail end. Adds a note of complexity.

Delightful! I agree with @colowine, there's enough "stuff" for the wine geek at the table and yet, it's a crowd pleaser as well. It certainly seems fully mature so anytime you want to open a bottle, go ahead!!

Deep dark red with brown hues, nose of fresh tarmac, cola, bay leaf, menthol, dark cedar and vanillan oak... in the mouth pomegranate, cola, chicory, a little menthol, coffee with red and a little black fruit acidity... nice drying tannins matching the medium weight wine... easily another 5 years ahead... good wine for the price.

Drinking perfectly now. Have loved the dusty cellar and truffle tastes of this for decades. The 2017 vintage seems a bit off from better vintages, but still quite good. Biggest difference I would speculate would be this has a shorter lifespan. Drink now.

Seems like maybe not as good a vintage as some, but still pretty solid. Drinking well now, best guess has at least another good year on it. Recommend at least all afternoon breathing given how long the Spanish leave it in barrels and bottles before releasing.

This is drinking nicely. Dark cherries galore with just a hint of rusticity and leather. I didn't find it overly complex but it was very good. I'm looking forward to future bottles and having this stocked in my cellar. The price is fair.

NobleRottersSydney - Sangiovese & Tempranillo (Glass Brasserie, Sydney) : {cork, 14.5%} [guest - David] Sweet oak and red aromas, in the nearest we came to classic old school Rioja tonight. Lots of flamboyant blackberry flavours, fine medium chalky tannins, medium/full weight. Not obviously oaky though. Sweet-tinged medium-length finish. Tidy stuff probably at peak, or at least, unlikely to improve much.

One of the best aromas I have ever seen in my wine "career" Not too complicated, but very strong and well defined aromas of red and black cherry, plum, figs, raisins, tobacco and milk chocolate. Taste? Love-hate relationship. One sip is full of juicy red cherry, strawberry, and red currant. The next sip is full of acidity and black pepper. Definitely the wine is over the top. Big disappointment after wonderful, ageless smell.

Day 1: Natural cork. $22.00 from Morellis. Drinking really well right now. Raspberries, wood, spices, minerals, menthol and earth. Very Rioja and love it. 92 points Day 2: Really good on day 2 with some nice spices, raspberries, strawberry, subtle oak, minerals, earth and pinch of tobacco. Picks up some menthol on the medium plus finish. Outstanding value. 92+ points Day 3: Holding form. Recommendation: A good vintage of this wine. Drink now to 2030.

Deep ruby on the pour. Blackberry, black cherry, maybe some dill and tobacco leaf on the nose. Hefty legs. Powdery tannins which became more pronounced as time went on. Medium acidity. Tart. Earthy. Dry and bold. Medium bodied. Leather, black cherry, black pepper, vanilla on the palate. Lots of personality. One-plus hour decant. The always dependable Marqués de Riscal strikes again. Thumbs up!

Coupage de Tempranillo 83%, Graciano 9%, Mazuelo 6% y Garnacha 2%, con una crianza de 20 meses en barricas de roble americano de 225 litros. En copa esta 2017 se vio un poco penalizada porque ya habíamos terminado de cenar y, sin maridaje, pareció menos hecha que las cosechas anteriores, aunque mantiene la calidad y tipicidad de la línea.

What a bottle ! Despite my bad cellar this had really blossomed. Now on day two, however, its decadence is showing. The rating pertains to day 1 only, so I recommend immediate consumption. One bottle left, will consume next week as the last before lent.

Tasted this at Tunglok Heen during a wine dinner with my wine mates. Theme of the evening: Wines from the Year of the Dragon. Dark purple with a brooding, solemn aura. Fresh floral and warming nose. First sip has red berries, bramble, and earth. The tannins have just enough grip to be noticed and appreciated. Slightly bright with barrel wood, mild tobacco, and fine leather in the middle. Smooth and medium finish at the end. Just enough complexity to be enjoyed with a fine meal, and at a tremendous value. Decanted for 1.5 hours and served with lamb and olive stew.

Well that has beautiful fruit character to it. Cherry in a burnished life saver way. Do they even make Life Savers anymore? Qualifies as a Grand Reserva but is only a Reserva. Seemless throughout the mid palate without weight. Not a huge amount of depth but a soft, gorgeous approach to it.

A strong vintage of the MdM Yagy Reserva. Dark fruits and on the rich side, tell tale vanilla - coconut traits but good balance over all.
