Served blind, slightly evolved brick edge. Cherry notes and chalk explode on the nose. Very ripe and long and still tannic. Another 5 to 10 years of life for sure. Drouhin rarely disappoints. 14.1% alc. I prefer their Oregon offerings way more than their Burgundy bottlings at a fraction of the price.

While I'm not a fan of Pinot Noir, this was a good bottle. A bit of fruit on the nose and as it first crosses the pallet and then a nice splash of oak. Paired nicely with a lamb ragu.

Oregon Pinot candied strawberry and other red berry nose. Expressive Mountmorency cherry even reminds me of northern Michigan cherry wine. Soft approachable acid. Kind of entry level. Not much oak. A little white pepper. Really cherry, really nice not 90 but close.

The 2017 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir is less ornery than when I last tasted it in December 2022, but still fairly tight. Though unimpressive on the first night — it came off as sweet and insipid — twenty-four hours of air have revealed a light-bodied Pinot possessing abundant chalky tannin and ripe red fruit. Still fresh, this wine should improve over the next five to ten years.

The wine looks violet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry, red currant and rose. It tastes like strawberry, raspberry and rose. The body is light. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

At 7 years, very smooth going down in the back, yet still bright enough for a rich flavour on the front of the tongue.

Medium ruby. Nice nose, strawberries and red fruits, a hint of spice, and even a savoury bit. Palate is super - a big blast of fresh red berry fruit, with excellent acidity and some tannin support, so it stays on track, grounded. This might even be better in 2-5 years, although delish now.

PnP that opened nicely at about 45 minutes into it. Good varietal typicity of aromas and flavors, medium-bodied with avg+ complexity. My only nit was I was looking for a touch more acidity to brighten this up a bit. Glad to have tried. Now and the next several years. recommended

Earthy, character, medium body, lacked the fruit and perfumed bouquet, drank easily with rack of lamb, spinach pie and hummus, last bottle, next vintage, DDO wines are all over the place with their taste.

note: I actually use the rating scale. 87 is not bad. ... but it reflects my lack of excitement, especially at a $20+ price point. Its decent. Oregon-y. Silky. Bright red fruits. Very fine grained tanins. Just not a lot going on to excite me. Color is par for the course, quite translucent, ruby red. Nose is bight with a slight spice note and slight sweetness. Body is silky, slight viscosity, minimal weight. Flavors of berries, which darkened over time. …

A little more tight than prior bottle in March, but still amazing and I do use that word sparingly. Deep, more complex than I can describe. If you have any, I’d hold until fall 24, but it has aging potential for a few years beyond 24. Great value Pinot, but not inexpensive. Worth it.

Just coming into drinking window now, but will need some breathing for best results. Medium-bodied, tannins present but not the main event, elegant, rasberry and cigar box. Should continue to improve in the next several years but likely not a candidate for long-term aging as would be their better wines.

Has aged gracefully, nice balance, smooth tannins with good acid, fruit well integrated in this medium bodied wine, 14.1%abv, drank with seared ahi tuna with cous cous and tomato basil olive oil red wine vinegar dressing, have another bottle, one of the better DDO PN’s that have aged, earthy and nice sipping to the bottom of the bottle.

Dark cherry, liqueur, brambles, plum jam, baking spices, pot pourri, wet earth, marzipan - aromatic, but towards the dark and concentrated end of the spectrum. Milky, rich mouthfeel with a piercing line of acidity. Grippy tannins that become more prominent with time in the glass. Interesting and well executed, with room for further upside.

Nuanced and layered with juicy, ripe blackberry pomegranate, spice box, orange peel, fungi, earth and sassafras. The nose is perfumed and foral while the palate is elegant with silky, polished tannins while remaining energetic and fresh with balanced acidity. Fantastic qpr and expression of WV PN fruit. Drinking well now with a couple years left.

dark ruby colour in the glass with a medium-body complexion. red fruits are prominent in the nose, with some subtle floral and spice notes and whiffs of forest. bright fruit of cherries, cranberries and rhubarb lead the way, accentuated by a clear acidity, but buoyed by tannins of medium grip. very nice balance. layers being to emerge, suggesting more bottle age will do it good. nice long finish with a peppery twist.

Initial aromas of pie cherry with tree bark and sassafras notes. Some funky slightly reductive sour cherry aromas, which blew off quickly. The balance on the palate was somewhat askew, with candy-like fruit followed by a citrus acidity that seemed particularly noticeable on the finish. Flavors are interesting but unsubtle and not particularly harmonious. Fruit is definitely of the red persuasion, including pie cherry, tart raspberry and rhubarb. Longish finish with some astringent tannins. Some good ideas here, but the …
