Golden yellow in color. Although this is a bit tired and maderized, you can get aromas of honeyed orchard stone fruits, spicy yellow citrus. Quite oily and viscous palate shows that sweet honeyed layered stone fruit marmalade, toasted nuts and hint of sherry. Sad..

Unfortunately the wine was already oxidized, so there’s not much to say…It was still drinkable as a sherry though tbh.

A fabulous wine right now with mineral, waxy notes and long finish. Will hold at this stage for quite a while yet.

Completely oxidised. At least reading other tasting notes here, I can console myself that it would probably have been the same 10-15 years ago.

no rating as this was ruined in some way (not corked)...flat and flaccid, tasted a bit sour as well. Both bottles I purchased from this vendor were off.

La Ronde's note is spot-on for my btl as well. On the nose: caramel and pear, honey with a touch of toast. On the palate: ok acidity, apricot, marmelade, caramel. Finish is a touch short, but an excellent example from the vintage imo.

This was not an academic exercise. Deep gold with almost amber tinge, nose like pear tarts, toasted. Full bodied and feeling like it's higher in alcohol than the label states (13%). The signature waxiness has evolved into a caramel quality, but caramel without sweetness. Dried stone fruits. So good. Drink or hold for maybe another couple, three years.

First bottle of 6. Upon opening, the aroma is an awful mix of damp socks and sherry gone bad. After keeping the wine open for several days, while the palate firmed up significantly, the nose did not improve so my low score is primarily based on this. The palate contains flavors of buttered popcorn, hazelnuts, minerals, figs, and oak. Best on day 3. After being open for 5 days, the wine had faded away. Now I've got to figure out …

Interesting wine - deep golden. I'm not sure if it's too old or in a weird spot. Not unenjoyable, but more academic than a pleasure. At least to me.

Great experience to drink this 2006 version of Ex Voto Blanc versus the 2010 ex voto blanc. The 2010 truly is a legendary wine, while the 2006 is a very good and typical hermitage blanc. Great Ex Voto personality, rich in flavour, with the famous petrol. Better day 2 and even better day 3. fully in the drinking window and a pleasure to have over multiple days. I would say the Ex Voto Blanc in top vintages is superior to …

A serie of superb Old World wines (Amsterdam) : A deep golden, but lively, colour with also a 'deep' taste, lovely nutty, mokka, cocoa, blossomed with aeration showing bitters and a compensating ripeness/sweetness and a very tasty finish; so powerful that the wine could not be very subtle, but I did not care.

Might have been past it’s prime, however this was my first “aged” white wine, so I have no baseline to compare as to what aged whites should taste like. It was bought from the store (SAQ) by me and stored in a cellar so I know it was handled properly. Nose: lots of honey, and some flower. Eyes: beautiful gold colour, almost looked like an aged Sauternes. Palate: fruit seemed completely gone. Notes of honey as the nose suggested was …

Some great older Rhones, primarily from the North (Portland, OR) : Really rich and nutty on the nose, offering nice lusciousness, spices, and herbs. Spicy on palate entry, and again heavy on the herbs. The wine is tart, thick, and voluminous in the mouth. Very intense and rich in body. Like a creamed nut pie. Palate shows decent acidity, but also feels of old, wet wood too. Crazy nutty honeycomb, spices, and herbs dominate the finish, but it's also rather …

Dark yellow color. Notes of clove, some saline and a touch of honeysuckle. In the mouth, large-scaled, but good underlying acidity. This wine didn't do it for me. It was pleasant, just not what I was expecting based on the notes and pedigree.

Amber color. Rich and profound; not just a wine, an important wine experience. Baked red apple skin, peaches, grilled lemon and toasted hazelnut are backed up by strands of peanut brittle and an herb component in the long finish I couldn't quite put a name to, maybe bay leaf. Wow.

This is a white wine that's quite different in style in comparison to other whites. Golden in color, rich and viscous when you swell the glass. The bouquet initially is filled with apricot, green apple and lemon zest, it would make you think that this might be a sweet white instead. But that's the deceiving part, the most interesting aspect of this wine, when the wine enters your palate - bang! rich juice packed with ample amount of refreshing acidiy, …

Found a couple of these buried deep and was going to relocate, but reviews here had me worried, so popped one. Golden yellow, clearly showing some age. Aromas of hazelnuts, caphor, and dry fig had me worried regarding oxidation. Flavors are dominated by nutty, woody warm notes, dry, yet very full mouth feel. Enjoyable to a degree, but shows oxidative qualities some may find off putting, but I still found highly drinkable. Best to drink remaining bottle very soon for …

Tasted blind, PnP fr 750ml. Initial nose had me guessing chenin blanc, with a sweet slightly oxed apricot aroma. Very oily note - not only on the nose but definitely oily and viscous on the palate. Oak and caramel present. The wine looked and tasted much older than it was - I guessed early-mid 90's. No rush to drink these. 91-92 today

Pisser. First, I thought I had purchased the 01 Ex Voto red, only to find out that I had actually purchased the white (don't ask). Then, I read all the reviews of oxidized bottles and crossed my fingers. Finally, I opened the bottle with friends to unanimous disapproval. White wine Guigal Masterclass (Stockholm) : Golden yellow colour, almost orange. Nose with ripe yellow fruit, orange peel, a hint of nut, some milk chocolate, damp straw, some mineral. Full bodied on the palate, oily, very spicy, oranges, a hint of bitterness, rather low acidity, slightly nutty, mineral and menthol. Comes across as fully developed. Rather far in its development for its age, if you factor in that it is a prestige Hermitage with good concentration.
