Benchmarking Syrah from around the world against SA (Luddite Cellars) : A light to mid-crimson colour with gorgeously intense aromatic notes of blackberry, lavender, sweet black cherry, and spice, accompanied by a blob of creme fraiche alongside some wine gum and sweeter compote notes. Tasted @ M Chapoutier Park90 event: Black currants, gravel, plum aroma. Tasted black currants, riped plums, mint leaves and slight leather. Slightly rough with tannins. Edgy still. Flattish finish. Still rather tight; palate rather dominated by alcohol. Would keep a few more years to see where it goes.
