Beautiful nose of lime, lemon, slate, chalk notes, tangerine, apricot, white peach. Palate of juicy citrus, apricot, peach, nectarine, guava, passion fruit, lime, sherbert, super long, dense. Beautiful, so good in its youth only going to get better with time.

Keller Abtserde study : As good as the GGs were, this was my easy favorite in terms of pure visceral pleasure. Abts E® study (Chicago, IL) : #22-17, 8.5% abv. Yeah, this is the stuff. Scintillating, electric stuff. White hot acidity with tons of tension, counterbalanced by just the right amount of sweetness, and enough mineral extract on the palate that makes this feel dry (even though it's sweet and tastes sweet). Beautiful Spatlese. This has electric aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit, other citrus, some tropicals, peach, lime, and flint and minerals. Also something creamy, nutty or even bready/yeasty. It's racy and delicious on the palate - full of flavor but light as a feather. Really gets the salivary glands going. Reminds me somewhat of the 15 Julian Haart wines. This is absolutely electric. It has the sweetness and intensity of Auslese, but holy crap the acidity here. It's nervy and racy, and I can't think of another 2016 German Riesling where I've found this kind of acidity. It's amazingly light on the palate, yet there's tremendous intensity and persistence to the flavors here - this is basically the Riesling ideal of flavor without weight.
