87: Clear red-purple color. Great legs. Spice and subtle fruit on the nose with just a hint of terroir on the back end. Strong tannins when opened but these mellow out nicely after about an hour. Palate leads with typical Syrah spice but finishes nicely with that subtle fruit tartness and a lingering earthiness more reminiscent of a Pinot Noir or Malbec. A little bit of cola/lavender on the nose. On the palate, a hint of sweetness, but a bit disjointed. Acidity could be better, finish is a little bitter.
