Greenstone Vineyard Sangiovese Rosso di Colbo

Pongy, funky, soury. Very pinot-like. Lacks the savoury edge and herbal tannin of top flight sangiovese. Pushes the edge somewhat but i like it.

I suspect not travelling as expected. Sour, pongy (very very pinot) with plenty of tangy acid. Miles away from the previous tasting. I think vintages pre-2010 came from sub-par clones that have since been replaced.

First whiff and pour showed some promise with emphasis on sinewy minerals and rush rather than plush fruit (ie a nod to old world) but the wine got progressively sweeter over time. Indeed got quite ripe raw and primary, a structure that almost begs some extended cellaring. Just seems awkward right now but not convinced it will bloom. Drink 2013+.
