Nice maturity and acidity. Dried black fruits and potpurri. A little lack of acidity but a nice drinking window in my opinion. Nice paired with liqurice

2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape tasting : Juicy, black fruit, cassis. Dusty nose, pleasurable, but not too complex. Stood the test of time quite well.

good cork. colour still surprisingly dark. Well resolved tannins. Plush feel Anise & garrigue; good long finish with a hint of soy at the end. Don't think it will improve. Drink up

Strange defect in this. Initially very yeasty, almost spritzy. Improved with air and we did drink it, as it was not unpleasant but it was definitely not showing as it should. Sweet, yeasty.

Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; we each brought 2 or 3 bottles (@ RW) : Juicy, but also corked. Pity.

Found in the forgotten depths of my cellar....The nice thing about buying 3-12 bottles of wine and storing over a number of years is watching them develop and mature. This is the last of six bottles purchased back in 2009...and by far the best. Nearing maturity and hitting on all cylinders. Completely ready to drink with complexity showing through with lots of tertiary notes: dried red flowers; dried raspberries, ripe cherries, stewed plums and crushed garrique; accentuated with ripe compost. …

A little tart at first, was worried I waited too long, but after a while it opened up beautifully. Drinking fantastic the second day, I'm seriously impressed with this quality

More in the black fruit direction, with slight hints of orange peel, tea, and pepper.

Winefield's, Pre-sale tasting: Still cherries in the bouquet and even in the taste, there combined with kirsch; the aftertaste is firm and has a certain balance, but what worries me a bit is the amount of alcohol in the midtaste. At least you have tot taste this wine a bit chilled tot minimize the effect of the alcohol, but than you have a wine with a nice personality.

I'm quite surprised... Of course 2007 is a great C9DP vintage but this shows pretty old after opening. But with some air it shows to be a nicely matured Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Don't wait any longer, it's on the way back.

To my tastes, this is peaking and at the beginning of a downward slide with the fruit just at the very edge of being over ripe or stewy, which I don't prefer. I think I'll drink up my last few bottles in the next year or so.

I am sorry to say this bottle did not perform the way expected. The fruit is all gone leaving only acidity and alcohol. Since I cannot find any other faults I assume it simply got too old.

Weekly tasting group RWP #250: Rhône; Gigondas Part 2 (@ BS) : In the bouquet red berries, garrigue and some good development. On the palate a juicy start, chocolate, herbs and spices, good acidity and soft, round tannin. Ready now, but no hurry.

C9duP2007 tasting @ my friend’s “the judge”. Probably my highest scoring tasting ever with 94.7 as an average of 18 wines. (@ VD) : Beautiful and clean, fresh and spicy bouquet with some pepper and a touch of pleasant barnyard. On the palate red and dark forest fruits, garrigue, licorice, some coffee, pepper, fresh acidity, round tannin and a good concentration. Really lovely wine which is ready now and has a future of several years.

Drank over two days without taking notes. Dense classical taste day one directly from the bottle. Lost most of it's structure by day two. Didn't finish the bottle

A very mature nose initially that after some hours in the air reveal the well hidden grenache fruit. Smooth on the palate, some acidity. A bit warm in the aftertaste. I cannot see a reason to hold on to the last bottle much longer.

Developed by leaps and bounds in the last year. Much more integrated, less alcohol on the nose with a funky almost old-school Bdx iron/dung aromas mixed with the unmistakeable Rhone fruit. Quite a surprise! Paired great with the beef wellington!

Decanted 30 minutes. Clearly from a warm vintage. Lots of fruit up front. Liquorice, tar and some herbs. Not bad. On the palate a bit clumsy. The alcohol shines through at times. Still enjoyable and one of the better 2007 ch9dp I've had lately.

Once you're through the alcoholic haze there's a half-decent Rhone in there somewhere, with peppery Grenache strawberry fruit and echoes of the garrigue, as well as more exotic spices. It's a pity they didn't harvest earlier.

A really poor showing. Diluted and alcoholic. Nose is muted with some wood, strawberries, herbs, some mature notes of dried fruit and a little tobacco together with some dry bread. Medium(-) acidity, sweetish fruit with dry, slightly woody tannins. Medium+ body with a poor intensity and a quite short finish. Not that by expectations were very high, but it still managed to disappoint. Good price (on sale) if you want a label that says CdP, but 170SEK is rather steep …

Smak av tranbär, fikon, ganska alkholdriven, lakritstoner, hel del fat som inte är helt integrerat, dålig syra, blek frukt. Helt enkelt en besvikelse, så jag hoppas att detta var en dålig flaska.

Sadly this bottle was just like the one before it, which is to say something had gone horribly awry. There was a distinct effervescence on the tongue as if were carbonated. This sensation gets in the way of everything else except for a syrupy sweetness. In the end it's basically semi-sparkling grape juice. As this was the second such bottle in a row I was tempted to actually score it but looking at other recent notes I must surely conclude …

Nothing wrong with the fruit. It is big and modern with ripe dark berries, figs, licorice etc. Oak well integrated by now. So far so good. The problem is the 16% alcohol, that makes this wine heavy. After one glass you feel that you have had enough. I went back to the bottle the day after, but had the same experience. Sorry, not my cup of tea.

Decanted the bottle few houres before diner. I chilled it to 18 degrees celcius. Alcohol is very high, 15%, if wine is too warm this is getting the upper hand. Liquorice, bit of blackberries, soft tannins.

Fifth bottle of six purchased back in 2009. Although this seems to have gradually improved, it's still tight and shy until it's had at least a two hour decant. Starting to show some slight signs of bricking. Notes consistent with my May 2013 notes. Pretty good but seems to lack the aromatics, power, and elegance of most of the top flight CdPs, especially given the great 2007 vintage. May improve slightly with more bottle time, but for now, I recommend …

Good. Expectation may have been a little high after reading my last note. Marked bricking and rather light in appearance. Classic CdP nose. In this particu;ar case the '07 vintage is showing in alc rather than fruit. A fair degree of interest that should be revisited in 2016. Had with cajun chicken burgers and the wine burnt everything.

So, what about 2009 in Chateauneuf-du-Pape? I remember RP had the vintage as a 2007 2.0 and I was blown away by quite a few of them at a tasting in Stockholm when some producers brought very young wines with them from the 2009 vintage. The fruit then was almost shameless in the way it exposed itself. Since then, I don't know. Quite a few CH9 from 2009 have turned out alcoholic and hot with not enough acidity. Quet 2009 …

Really enjoyed this wine with dinner tonight. Paired extremely well with barbeque chicken (lots of sauce), baked sweet potato topped with cinnamon and chili powder, and stewed kale with cranberries and onions. Based on comments from 2011 I'd say this wine improved some with a little more time in the bottle. But definitely not a sipping wine; this wine is best with proper food pairing. The body is light/medium.

Blackfruits and currants. Savory with balanced tannins and an expansive mouthfeel. More of an old world CDP. High Alcohol (although not much notable heat). I would drink in the next 5 years. Although I like it, I don't know if the savory flavors (which are its strong point now) will fade and the fruit just won't develop to make it more complex.

Bright medium red. Lighter nose, raspberry and cranberries, the nose closed down hard after a bit. Decent red fruit flavours and some nice tannins. This wine never really seemed to get it's pace and then it just shut down.

Quite subdued on the nose, with aromas of black pepper, black cherry, prune, and anise peeking through. Much more open on the palate, exhibiting black cherry, lots of prune, fresh plum, black licorice, along with a ton of spice/black pepper. Dusty tannins, with medium acidity, and a medium+ length finish ending with notes of prune and spice. I quite enjoyed this, despite it appearing to be in a bit of an awkward phase. Very good.

Quite a wine, powerful and very upfront. On the nose black berries and stone. The taste is direct and powerful with quite alot of tannins. More black berries and a liquorice feeling thst remnided me of root crop (in a good way). Long and distinct finish. With 3 hours of air before eating this wine felt suprisingly "done". Will buy more.

Lite skum doft, både direkt vid dekantering och även efter c:a 3 timmar. Påminner något om tvål. Ett överlag mycket gott vin som dock fortfarande är ungt och kräver 2-4 år till för att utvecklas.
